Dual straight, dual right angle, or mixed?

yes and the decoupling saves your cable and your bass from damage from stepping on the cord and yanking it. I bought three, I can lose two before buying more. I can't believe you are disagreeing about using an adaptor, but that's TB........

You are both right. But, for avoiding yanking a cable, I use a 3" Levy's strap that has a snap on it and a leather loop that goes around the cable and snaps to the strap, so the cable is secured to the strap and it won't yank out. It has been working fine since about 1990 (+/-). Using an adapter, it would pull out and you might be in the middle of the song. And I disagree with using an adapter, also. Every electrical connection reduces signal to some degree.
And I can't believe you can't believe someone is arguing about using an adapter, but that's TB.......everyone's an expert.

I used to have bare leads hanging from the bass that I attached alligator clips to, but now I only use carrots.

Actually I just use one straight/one right angle, but I do like carrots.

I'm a straight/straight guy. I'm comfortable with that for any and all my basses. As far as an adapter goes, never. Just not needed. You gotta worry about a loose connection or just a loss of tone in general. No thanks. If I really want a certain cord I'll buy it or make it.

I use straight-straight but since getting a P I have been meaning to get a right angle cable. I always loop cables around my strap and it would just match the angle better.

Ibanez soundgear basses have an angled (to the body) ouput jack that doesn't do right angle plugs very well so that's a straight end for me. But, I prefer the amp side to have a right angle so the cable isn't draping down and putting strain on the input jack. So, mixed (but not drivers, heavens no).

It depends on the location of the jack on either the instrument or the amp that I'm plugging into. For my side-jack bass(TBird) I like a minimum length cable with straight/straight plugs. My Korg tuner has a side mount jack and so I use a right angle plug for the tuner into a straight plug going into the amp. I prefer straight/straight, generally, unless it results in an awkward cable configuration.

The observation that a straight plug for basses having the connector on the front is totally wrong.

For me, and with a mechanical analysis, a right angle connector puts less stress on the jack when the cable is stressed is wrong. The forces are less, as the cable is nearer the connector.

In summary, I prefer right angle at the bass, except for recessed jacks.

I just weld all my connections. Lasts a lifetime but it can be hard on certain finish types. YMMV
