This has me thinking about these new lightweight power amps with hpf lpf and a a couple sansamp pre's.

Wow, I'm always the last to know. I've been out of the office the last week and today was the first I heard about this. Here is what I know so far.
The amp is not stereo per dUg's request. It's 1000 watts at 4 Ohms. You can run two 8 Ohm cabs or one 4 Ohm.
It is not available yet as it is still being tuned to his specifications.
It will be priced the same as the VT Bass 1000.
I'm told it will be at the Bass Player Live Show in Novemeber.

sounds like it's going to be a great head...and great news on the pricing, thanks...i was thinking that with the specs and dUg's name on the front there would be a little more of a premium...thanks!

Doug Pinnick from kings x...I would expect this amp to be built to doug's exact specifications, so I'm not sure whether or not it has that feature or not...the amp that he got is a little different than the one originally posted, so it's been tweaked the way he wanted it...it's definitely a niche amp
Sorry, but that tone strikes me as about the worst I've ever heard. That's my take, but for others who like a twangy, distorted bass tone with little or no low end it might be perfect. To each his/her own.

Paul. which video were you listening to? Curios because the tone Im hearing in both videos has plenty of low end....granted, Dug has a tone all his own and always has, but having seen Kings X in concert numerous times, he has just about the most low end live that I have ever heard...crushing in fact. Dug takes up a LOT of sonic space.

Absolutely....actually, I was just trying to figure out why you couldn't hear the low end in the videos, on my computer I can hear it very well. Its not important to me that you like it...he does have a lot of overdrive and twang, but low end is something he has never been shy with...this is a good example:
