I'd probably strip the hardware and sell that on Ebay for burger money

if you want a project its worth whatever you value that at, but I would have left it there, its probably worth less money than the cost of the one tuner you'd have to buy.

Nope...not the same. They use different headstocks on the different price ranges they offer. the one you gave a link to with that arrowhead shaped headstock is the $100 range. The dumpster one was one of the $200 price range basses.

He probably won't be able to bring it back to life for much less than that. Plus, the early models were made in Korea whereas current ones are (I believe) made in China. Early models were extremely well made with great fit and finish. Then they switched manufacturing sites out of Korea and quality suffered, fit and finish especially. You can still find a nice one if you check out a number of them before buying, but quality is not consistent. It used to be you could just order one and get a nice bass for a great price.

I have an early LX405 Pro that I use when a song calls for use of a low B string and I'm always amazed when I use it at just how nice that $200 bass actually is. His dumpster bass though is pretty well trashed and odds are he'll put more into it than a new one costs.

Not sure I would do anything on that. Frets have been removed making me think there might be something wrong with the neck as in something like a maxed out truss rod so the owner decided to make it fretless. Check out the truss rod before you spend a cent in trying to restore it.

I'm far from an expert, and never even considered buying one, but I don't remember there ever being a one pickup rogue bass for $200.

Looks like you can use the matching blue level in the pics to true up that fretless board......
