Dunlop String Lab Dual Dynamic hybrid nickel/steel strings

I did a rudimentary search and didn't find anything posted about these strings.

From the website:
This set of Hybrid Nickel Strings taps into the unique sound and feel of both nickel and steel with a nickel outer layer that provides a big, punchy low end and an inner steel layer that puts your groove front and center with an aggressive midrange. Under the fingers, they’re comfortable to play. From tone to touch, you won’t find a more exceptionally balanced set of bass strings.

Seems interesting on paper, and at $22 for a 4-string set there's very little reason not to try them, other than the fact that I have a good half-dozen sets of unopened strings in the drawer to get through first.

If anyone has tried these I'd love to hear some feedback.

GHS has been doing it for years with the Bassics, which have nickel-plated steel final cover with all stainless steel inner layers. Nothing new...

Cool. I didn't know that about the Bassics. Based on the name I assumed they were just the budget option super basic NPS strings and never really looked at them that closely.

I read the Dunlop literature as being a pure nickel outer wrap over a SS inner layer, so maybe slightly different than the GHS Bassics.

Is that what the Bassics are? They don't make mention of it. They only talk about the nickel-plated steel winding, not any stainless steel layers under it.

The description for the Bassics on the GHS website used to have the info about "nickel-plated steel final cover with stainless steel inner layers". @Jon Moody also confirmed it when he was still with GHS.

The GHS Boomers are different in that they're all nickel-plated steel including the inner layers, except for the innermost layer on the 3-wrap strings, ie anything thicker than .100.

They're relatively inexpensive but there is nothing "budget" about their overall quality. I would take them over D'A XL Nickels and EB Slinkys any day.

Oh I didn't know Jon wasn't with GHS anymore!

I'd take just about anything over D'A XLs lol :p.

Seems like there might be a bit of overlap with these and their (new?) Trivium strings. The info on the respective pages makes it seem like the Dual Dynamics are all steel windings with a nickel outer wrap, while the Triviums alternate steel/nickel windings?

I ordered a set of the Triviums when I heard about them, but haven't gotten them on a bass to try out yet.

5sg.

My impression was that the Trivium set was just a "signature set" of the exact same strings as the Dual Dynamics.

Maybe not new, but not common.

I like the Super Bright nickels. I wish they had tension data and offered more (a) tapered strings and (b) some balanced tension sets.

I ordered a set. $7 for USPS Priority shipping from Dunlop, so not technically a $22 string set. But it looks like they'll be stocked at Sweetwater at some point and they offer free shipping.

Awesome! We have a Guiney pig! :)
International shipping to Canada will be even more yet, but that's just reality these days and I expected that. I might check in at my local Long & McQuade to see if they can get them in.
