Dunlop Strings - one word "Wow"

I picked up a catalog at the Winter NAMM Dunlop booth and see a 6 string set in there. The Dunlop rep positively nodded to me, stating that they 100% carry 6 string sets of Dunlop bass strings!

In going to online retailers and even looking at the Dunlop website, there are no 6 string sets to be found.

Does anyone have a scoop on this? I want these on my Cirrus 6er!

Got a response from Dunlop. They make 6 string sets, but they are only through custom order from select distributors or direct from Dunlop at the tune of $53.xx.

I'm going to contact West LA Music, my local distrib that carries them and see how much they cost. When I try them out I'll post a review.

But I can't believe they aren't actually getting these out on the market!

I got a 6 string set from Perfect Bass and just put them on last night. I don't gig with the 6 often but I had not changed those strings in about 2 1/2 years. I have very dry skin and strings tend to last a lot longer with me. These strings brought my MTD Z6 back to life. They feel wonderful and the tone and dynamics are very good. I got the SS set but I am gonna order some nickel to put on my jazz bass.

Check with Perfect Bass Lorenzini. I think they still have them in stock.

Thanks Robear. And earlier, in contacting JustStrings.com to find a set, I've learned they, too, will be carrying them shortly upon learning that there is a 6 string set.

This is great. I've decided upon Dunlops as my main string due to price:quality.

Guys,

FYI... GC is selling 2 packs of Dunlop Nickel 45 to 105s (4-string only) for $19.99, no limit. I picked up 4 packs. Slammin' deal and the strings sound pretty nice too. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Cheers!

Do they have the same deal for stainless steel ones? Not that last time I went to GC they didn't have SS Dunlops, ack, had to order them online.

I think it is just for the nickels, but for what it's worth, they sound surprisingly bright and punchy, IMO. Kind of a middle ground between SS and other nickels I have used. Tension is a bit higher than say, Hybrid Slinkys, but they feel smooth to the touch. Very aggressive sounding with a smooth, bright top and plenty of bottom. They sound outrageous with a pick or slap on my Sadowksy MV4. Finger style - not too bad either. Not sure about longevity at this point, but at this price - a total slammin' deal. I might pick up some more and save the "expensive" strings for important gigs and/or sessions.
