I've used XLs once. They are very-very bright. Dunlops are not so bright. I think the Dunlops are more 'creamy', hmm, like smoother, less tension.
Just now I have two bass guitars wired with DR Lo-Riders and one with Dunlops. I think Dunlops are nice even if I somewhat like the higher tension in Lo-Riders. But it's nice to switch between the strings from time to time. I suspect Dunlops will last longer than DRs, not sure yet as I've only played 5+ gigs and recorded for 10 hours or so with this set.
Interesting, I use Lo-Riders as I use DGCF tuning so the tension has to be there with this lower tuning. Dunlops are nice but they are much easier to bend compared with Lo-Riders with this tuning, anyway that's how it feels when I do A/B testing with my bass guitars.
Could any of you guys tell me how these strings compare tension wise to D'Addairo XL's? )-(
DUNLOP STRINGS ARE BUY ONE GET ONE AT GUITAR CENTER THIS MONTH. 2 for $20!!!!!
How do they sound? Do they have a nice metallic bite with some buzzing? I'm looking for punchy metallicy strings to put on my bass when I put in a set of EMG P-Xs
The SS sets are quite tame (mellow) compared to alot of the comparison sets IMO. Not that its a bad thing though.
