The HP filter on your amp has a very gradual slope and was designed to help with feedback when using a microphone; it is not a tone control. The effect is very subtle. The range is about 50-180Hz. In fact, with electric bass, you may not notice any difference at all. This circuit was suggested by one of our endorsers and reportedly worked well for him. I have to say that reports from the field indicated that the effect was less than what we expected.
We improved the HP filter function on the new Doubler. It has a 3 position switch on each input channel that allows you to choose a 20Hz, 50Hz, or 80Hz rolloff, and the slope is much steeper. For electric bass, you would put the switch in the 20Hz position and leave it that way. If you are playing upright and experiencing feedback issues, you would try the 50Hz and 80Hz positions and see which one works the best.
Please note that the variable notch filter is the better way to attack the microphone feedback issue. This control is only on the Doubler models.
If you are looking for better low end control and the tone controls on the unit are not sufficient, I think you would benefit from a multi-band external equalizer rather than experimenting with the HP filter. The equalizer would allow you to focus on specific frequency points, where the HP filter cuts a broad range of frequencies. You would use the equalizer in the effects loop.

Just as an FYI to anyone that has a blown CxL 10" or 12" coaxial speaker and wants to rebuild it. EA has repeatedly stated that the "parts are no longer available" but that's not completely true. Eminence, the OEM manufacturer of the CxL 10" & 12" speakers, will in fact manufacture runs of recone kits for these speakers. They will ONLY sell them to EA as per an established contract. Understandable. There is a minimum order of 10 kits per size for a production run to commence and the lead-time is six weeks. Unless we can find someone to buy the kits in a lot (possibly one of the speaker repair companies?), apparently EA doesn't want to stock them, we're in limbo. So now you know there is a resolution to this problem, too bad EA doesn't care to help. Sad. I've always been an vocal and enthusiastic supporter of EA but this stymies me.
I would consider some NL-210 10" speakers, 4 of them, for 8 Ohm speaker configuration, if the price is reasonable. Mine are working perfectly, would use them as spares.
You say “we’re” in limbo when in fact it’s just you. If there were a number of people that needed the kit it would make sense for them to buy ten. Sorry if I missed a detail.
I and two other people in my immediate (small) area need 10" kits, I'd take two just in case. Even though few people saw my original post this is a larger problem. The fact that EA doesn't support the product any longer should concern any owner of CxL cabinets. What started me on this quest was the fact that a friend that I sold two CxL-210 cabs to (nine years ago!) had one blow and took a Thunderfunk power section with it. When he couldn't get any help from EA or Eminence I figured I'd see why. The fact that EA says "the parts are no longer available" is a lie, they just choose not to make the investment. That should concern every EA owner, not just me.

Ok sorry didn’t know that. Why not order the 10 and sell the 6 you wouldn’t need?
NL 10" speakers are a good resource for some applications but the CxL cabs don't have separate horns. They use coaxial drivers screwed onto the back of the speaker magnets and have no room for adding a horn.
That was the purpose of my original posting in "Amps & Speakers". I just think that a "quality company" like EA should support their products and not leave owners to fend for themselves. I've used and promoted EA products for almost 20 years now, even acted as a stocking dealer when no music store here in Upstate NY would touch them....... I'm just disappointed.
As long as there's a need. I'm not suggesting they supply an endless warrantee on the speakers, what they and Eminence do in that regard is quite fair. The investment in parts cost is fairly small and the profit they make on the sale of the kits would return their investment. Good customer service opinions and brand support have a positive return.

Wouldnt be an issue of how long to support their products, if their products (notably the CXL and NL) weren't so prone to mechanical failure. I LOVE EA's tone profile, but wouldn't buy another non VL series cab, due to failure rates that I've personally experienced.
When the early CxL cabs came out there was an issue with the glue (or the gluing process) that Eminence used. There were failures, a friend that I sold two CxL-112 to (new) had both blow in the first week. EA said it was "user error" and wouldn't honor the warranty. After contacting Eminence directly they acknowledged they had a gluing problem and replaced the speakers. EA lost a customer on that one!
P.S. I LOVE MY VL CABS!

I’ve been a longtime Ea user- still use & love the iAmp 800 & iAmp 350. Currently have a Glockenklang Quattro 4/10 cab (4 ohm)
Was contemplating purchasing a Ea Nl- 410w cab .. anybody use one of these? Would love to hear your impressions of how the Ea 4/10 stacks up against Greenboy, Glockenklang, MAS, etc...
I’d be running my iAmp 800 into the 4/10 if I decide to purchase one.
Thanks for any experiences/ opinions on the Ea 4/10.

Big fan of the NL-410. It is one of my all-time favorite 4x10's, right up there with my Glockenklang Take 5 and my Berg HS410.

I spend many years gigging a pair of NL210s, they were awesome. I also had an SA410, which I think was Sadowsky branded but pretty darn close to identical to the HS410. All great stuff when I was playing 3-4 nights per week. And much less years when my back worked like a young buck.Big fan of the NL-410.
