Which Wizzy? The doubler and micro are the same for the most part.
The NL210 is very clear with a good low end. I could only guess but I'd bet it would overpower the 12" in the combo.

Which Wizzy? The doubler and micro are the same for the most part.
The NL210 is very clear with a good low end. I could only guess but I'd bet it would overpower the 12" in the combo.
The original Wizzy, not the M-line. The reason the 9.0 sounded
so good with the Wizzy is that we engaged the ultra low and
ultra high buttons. That way, we got all of the frequency from
the box we possibly could. The M-line has a larger sound to
begin with. It may work better with the eq on the EA heads.

EA cabs....
So I love the VL208s for my DB and at the same time I can't stand using them with my electric bass.
At the same time I love my NL210s for playing electric but they just don't quite cut it for playing DB, not bad and turning the tweeter off helps but I still prefer the VL208s for DB.
Based on the tonal qualities I prefer and dislike with the cabs and respective instruments I do not see a happy medium where I could be happy with a single cab for both applications. The Sadowsky SA410 (same as Bergantino HS410) came close but at 85 lbs was not all that practical.
It's unfortunate that EA doesn't seem to be making either of these cabs any longer as they are both really great. There are rumors of a wizzy 2x10 and wizzy 4x10 maybe they'll bridge the gap.

Ah, what you want is the NM-208.Which EA decided not to put into production...
Well at least they give these things a try, some work out some don't. I was ready to get on line for one but it never happened.
I kind of felt the same about the 208.
I'm planning on bring my iAMP 800 combo (CXL112 cab) and my Wizzy/CXL112 extension cabinet...so there'll be lots of combinations to check out.

Is there anyone from Texas on here with the New iamp pro? I'm dying to try this head out but I am afraid to just drop the cash sight unseen and unheard. I like big lots of headroom and I am tired of my back hurting. Right now I am playing 50+ pound bass head in a rack case so you can see why I might want to make a change.

I was really surprised to find them. I was watching a YouTube video where a bass player was using EA cabs with a Sadowsky SA200 and thought that was a good idea. I searched, found one cabinet listed at a store on a website and called to ask if they had two. They are the CXL-112e (Baltic birch, i.e. heavier) version.

I use my doubler head...VL208s for DB and NL210s for electric.
I never really fell in love with using the VL208s for electric, I much prefer the NL210s. I wonder if I found the right amp I may be happy using the VL208s with my electic.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

IMO, no. Those VL208's to my ear are not very EB friendly... a bit compressed, a bit dull up top, with just a touch of boxiness in the mids.
IMO and IME, they 'are what they are'. That works pretty well for DB where you want to control the low end and bring out the woody mids, but for electric, there are SO many better options... more full range, higher volume capability, fuller low end, sweeter top end, etc., etc., etc.
The NL210's sound great to me, but I understand they are discontinued. The VL210 sounded pretty killer with EB (as long as you didn't need a particularly bright tone), since the low end opened up and was more balanced with the mid drivers to my ear.
This might not be much help but in an interveiw I read years ago Lee Sklar was using EA eight's on stage live for electric bass. He was also using an EA head but I do not recollect the model numbers of either...sorry

I love the NL210s for electric zero complaints, BTW still haven't had an issue. Thankfully they have kept the gas away. If I ever blow a driver I might have problems if EA can't source a replacement.
The VL208s seem to be the best DB cabinet I have ever owned or played, it would just be nice to find more use for them.
As a side note the Glock Heartrock and SA410 was a massively large and heavy combo but was really the only rig I ever really liked for both electric and DB..

I can see that very tight, warm, mid present SA410 with the EQ power of the Glock really being able to do just about anything. But, as you say, that's a tank!
That rig was primo with no compromise on the tone side. After a long summer of gigs it became what can get me close without needing a flat bed and elevator installation to my basement.
To my knowledge EA stacks replacement parts as long as there is demand for them, and they have recone kits for the NL-210. They still have recone kits for the VL110 (discontinued in 1998).
The fEarful 12/6/1 is pretty much the best upright bass sound I've ever heard. A forum member came and tried out my 15/6 and then promptly bought a 12/6/1 for his fusion band and his gypsy jazz band where he plays upright, and last I heard he liked it with both.

As an FYI EA can have an NL210 driver reconed if needed, so no real worries about the cabs being out of production...
