EA Euphonic Audio Club (NEW WEBSITE)

Had two VL208 cabs that were awesome, but couldn't handle the rock bands I played in. Owned a CXL112 for awhile, but didn't like the tone. Bought a used VL210, but didn't like the weight, or tone (I'm just not much of a 10" fan these days). Currently have a Wizzy cab, but after blowing to OEM speakers out, I bought heavy-duty speaker on a friend's recommendation from Allparts (IIRC), and it's been a great little cab for small-to-medium gigs. It is a bit heavier than stock though...
Liked the V208's the best out of all of them. Have a friend that has two VL110's that sound great. I currently pair my modded Wizzy up with an AccuGroove Tri112 for big gigs, especially when I don't want to bring the AG El Whappo Jr. out.

yeah i have had a number of EA cab over the years.. I had two CXL110's great ton for electric bass, but need more volume. Then got a VL210 that sounded huge and great for electric again but not for upright. Then I got two CXL112's (heavy versions) that I ran with my Bassman 135 and boy did that setup sound great for electric and upright! Sold the cabs as i got tired of making three trips for all my gear..
EA is well represented at the NYC/INTL GTG yesterday.
There were about a dozen different bass rigs on the floor. Three of which were EA:
Mike Dimin: Doubler - Wizzy10 - Wizzy10
SMPerry: IAMP 800 combo with a CXL extension cab (with a wizzy 12 driver in the extension)
PeterPalmieri Doubler - VL208 - NL210
Also got to meet Mike Dimin in person finally, a really great and fun guy. Not to mention one heck of a bass player and clinician.

So I just ordered an EA iAMP Pro, sight unheard. It replaces a QSC PLX3602 power amp and a Genz Benz ShuttleMAX12 preamp. The rack is gone, I've shed about 33 pounds, and watts-per-8ohm channel have shrunk to 600. This will power LDS 15/6 and 12/6 cabs. I'm currently using a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 and love that warm creamy tone of the FET. The EA will be for louder electric gigs, although it's not out of the question I might use it in quieter settings. Have I made the right move?
The IAMP Pro is a ridiculously loud amp I can't imagine many people wanting anything more. In a nice compact size!
If you haven't owned an EA amp you will soon realize the crazy amount of tone shaping possibilities it leaves you with. Being able to change the center frequency on all bands and being able to adjust the Q on the two mid bands. Plus the four presets and EQ bypass switch.

Just reading about the I AMP Pro is giving me G.A.S... I think next year I will. But I'm still getting to know my Doubler for now....
Yesterday my iAMP Pro arrived. I had an hour to play with the controls before running off with it to a gig. During this warm up, I plugged the amp in, experimented with EQ and A-B'd it to my Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0. The cab was a custom 12/6 near-fEarful style built by Low Down Sound.
My first goal was to dial in a tone that would work at the low-volume coffee house-style venue. I would be playing original instrumentals with an acoustic guitar. In my home studio, I did not care for the EQ set flat; seemed too sterile and clinical to my taste. I quickly found a sweet spot as follows:
Bass - slider @ 100 kHz, +5dB
Low Mid - slider @ 250 kHz, +5dB
High Mid - slider @ 2kHz, -5dB
High - slider @ 3kHz, -4dB
This is what I used at the venue. Nice! Deep, clean, smooth, luscious bass tone. I tried the "Deep" button on a few songs but it was too bassy/boomy for my taste. The amp provide a good solid foundation for the guitar and songs. A sample is below. There's lots to learn with this amp and I will provide other reports later. One thing that surprised me before leaving for the gig was the A-B to the Shuttle 3.0 - I always considererd that amp to be quite clean and pure in tone, but I could really hear the GB voicing compared to the "cleaner" iAMP Pro. Not a good-bad thing, but something I was less aware of until making this direct comparison. The iAMP Pro is WAY more power than I need for quiet gigs like these, but I look forward to using it in louder electric gigs with my LDS 15/6 cab, and possible both in a stack.
I recorded the set acoustically with an Audio Technica AT-825 stereo mic into a Marantz PMD661 solid state recorder in WAV format, which I modestly tweaked with Sound Forge Audio Studio before conversion to MP3. You can see the mic at lower left of the photo below.

^Sounds nice, good timing too... Did you bypass the EQ before engaging the deep switch. Narrow or wide bands on the mids?
I did not bypass the EQ before pressing that button. Not sure how to answer the second question - I'm totally new on this amp! What advice can you offer on narrow/wide for mids?
First if you are using any of the presets you want to start with turning off the EQ, you could also set it flat, but it's nice to A/B your settings, the amp flat and the presets You can choose a wide and narrow band width in the two mid points. There is a button for each. The best thing is to play with them with the other controls flat and get a feel for what they can do. The wider curve simply menas your boost or cut will effect a greater range of frequencies.
I literally took each of the bands and tried boosting and cutting various amounts at each frequency on the slider. By the time you figure this thing out you will be a master of EQ.
Right now you've got the 4 presets, the bypass of the EQ and your custom EQ settings. That's six seperate settings by just using the buttons.
Don't be afraid to set the pre gain to 2 o'clock and the master as far as it will go. The amp is pretty clean with both at their maximum.

Very impressed with my iAMP Pro. The tone is incredibly rich, thick, accurate, and flexible. The 600 watts per 8ohm channel is just want I needed. All under 10 pounds.

Surprising how musical this amp is. After a month of extensive use, I'm totally satisfied. Last night did another low volume coffee house type gig with an electric guitar. This time, we plugged a drum machine into the iAMP's Stereo In jack. Played it through my 12/6 cab for some light background rhythm. To no surprise, it worked great. I'm getting better at EQing this amp, and elected to go with the bass boost depressed in order to add a bit more "feel" to the tone. Sounded almost "tubey" in tone.

For esthetic reasons, so the speakers and ports lined up vertically and that the Sadowsky SA200 would fit on top without looking too big. I know it cuts the horizontal dispersion of the horn, but with increased vertical dispersion, I can really hear the horn standing in front of the cabinets.
