Your drummer also has a keyboard. That seems kind of dangerous. Also, what is it with young, talented drummers these days? I haven’t worked a pit with one over age 22 in YEARS.

Dale is about 26, and is finishing a Ph.D. in musicology at UTK. He uses the keyboard to play tympani parts on a couple of songs. It's entertaining to see him playing a beat in a song with his right hand and two feet, and playing the tympani part with his left hand at the same time.

Most of the drummers I've worked with are in their 20's. I know what you mean. We have a hard time finding drummers that will play for more than a couple of productions, or that will commit to working 2 or 3 weekends at the rate the theatres pay.

Thank you Jeff!!! I appreciate so much the encouragement I have gotten from you and some other of my bass brethren on here. I love playing bass and will never stop. It's been such a huge part of my life since high school, and just can't give it up. I hope to keep all my basses I have now and maybe have a really great rig soon, even if it's just to play at home or bring to a GTG we have sometime. Maybe buy some recording gear to mess around at home... Who knows but like I said thanks to all you guys for everything.

For anyone interested, I still have an SX short scale bass.

I have an SX SS j-bass, the one with the Barts, and they are very nice for how cheap they are. If one doesn't have to play 30" scale for physical reasons, they are fun to play for players who normally play 34-35", which I do. I bought mine to see how an SS plays, with a mind toward buying parts from Warmoth to build one, but decided just to keep the SX instead.
