East Tennessee Talkbass

Any more talk about a GTG?

The last I heard the discussion was aimed at the last weekend in March which I'm OK with - but turns out to be Easter weekend.

I'm planning another vacation around this even so some plans need to be made. Any chance we can stir up these talks again?

Alien Love Charm near term dates:

Saturday 2/23 at Brackins Blues Bar, Maryville

Saturday 3/2 at Lincoln's, Oak Ridge

Friday 3/8 at Preservation Pub, with The Royal Hounds as the opening band. We're playing midnight-2AM.

Never heard of the Royal Hounds, but I'll try to stop by! Remember you get half priced pizza there, and it's quite good :)

Yeah, Umm, Easter Sunday may not be the best day to plan a GTG. Anyone have a conflict on 4/6?

Haven't had much response to the 4/7 GTG date. Need to know if this is a good date so I can reserve the multi-purpose room at the church. This one may be a little different than prior GTG's as I plan on setting up a PA, full drum kit(drummer included) and mics. I'll plan on adding a 6 ft. sub(sandwich, not speaker) for all to partake in. Just need others to bring chips, 2 liters, etc. This one is planned for 1-5 pm, so we will need to eat! I'm holding an ace-in-the-hole or two, as well, that I may or may not reveal as we get closer to the date. Let's do this thing!!! RESPOND!!!

I make some killer chip dip! Anyone alergic to onions?

Thanks for coming out to see Alien Love Charm at Lincoln's in Oak Ridge on Saturday. We play there next on Friday May 31. Our next gig is this Friday night at Preservation Pub.

To follow up on the in-person conversation we had at Lincoln's so others can participate - I understand your frustration with craigslist in Knoxville. Very tough to find anyone good and/or reliable from ads there. I have posted ads on there in the past that specifically included something like "email links of your playing" - anyone who can't even point to having a video or audio clip of themselves SOMEWHERE on the internet is automatically disqualified from being serious about playing, and almost 100% of the time there would be no link!

I'd encourage you to get on Facebook, there is a lot of activity including a couple of special interest groups for blues in East Tennessee and for Knoxville local musicians. It's become the 'pulse' of local music, as neither Blank Magazine nor Metro Pulse has much of a clue about what's actually going on - Facebook is telling the story these days instead. There is probably even more going on there than I am aware of, and I see a lot of material about local Knoxville rock on there.

I'd love to but ... my band Alien Love Charm has a cruise gig on the afternoon on 4/7 on the Star Of Knoxville riverboat ... Jimi Hendrix tribute show with 3 bands sponsored by 103.5 WIMZ for ASA ETC Autism Society of America East TN.

Looking good, guys. I just received confirmation on reserving the room and realized I'd goofed on the date. The GTG will be on Sunday, April 7th from 1pm until 5pm. Location is Trinity United Methodist Church in Morristown, TN. Address is 425 Wilder Street if you would like to map it. I'll repost the address along with directions closer to the date.

Congrats on the Riverboat gig! I heard it advertised on WIMZ just this week. Sunday afternoon gigs are kind of an anomaly which is why we normally plan GTGs on Sunday. I hate that you won't be able to make it. I'll eat a sammich for ya'.:D
