I'd suggest you gig the Aggie cab before doing anything drastic. It sounds soooo wonderful solo'd but completely different in a mix. The ultra low end eats up huge amounts of power and muddies up the low end definition - although it is good for dub, reggae etc. More of a specialty cab imho. I bought one and unloaded it a month or two later. It's one of the most frequently traded cabinets on Craig's list - probably for those reasons.
As always YMMV.
P.S. Our east TN friend Larry (ldervish) uses the Aguilar with a Jazz with flats and a tube amp and I have to admit that combo sound killer!

Alien Love Charm is playing another Jimi Hendrix benefit gig for autism research, this time at Preservation Pub on Sunday 10/27. It's 5 bands from 8:00-close, we are playing 1 hour from 9:00-10:00pm. $5 donation. Our next regular date is Brackins in Maryville on Fri 11/1.
The new, new thing going on is us three guys from Alien Love Charm have teamed up with Super Dave, the sax player from Soulfinger and Joe on trumpet from Ganasita and other local bands to form a new group called the State Street Rhythm Section.
We are playing 70's Tower of Power and James Brown style horn-funk. We started rehearsing 2x a week in June and have kept that pace through the last few months, are recording a pro demo in the studio on Oct 16 and have gigs booked at Preservation Pub and Brackins coming up in the near future. We're playing about 40 different tunes at the moment and have 10-15 more in the queue to get going on.
Once I've got the demo done and mixed, will create a new Facebook page and post the music links. First gig is only 4 weeks away at the moment ...

Gig update: Kudzu is at Big Tonys in Alcoa tonight 10/11 show starts at 8. On Saturday 10/12, at Cancun Mexican restaurant in maryville, show starts at 7
Am back as a supporting member, so PM's to me are good again. A TBer has a Genz Shuttle 9.2 head for sale, so I had to re-up to PM him. Anybody here in ETTB have one they'd sell? I am thinking about selling my 6.2 and upgrading the Shuttle combo.
Edit: (Click on the attachment!) I love it! Since I became a TB member in 2004, I have never renewed my TB membership after that and showed up on the "Latest supporting member" blurb on Talkbass. After renewing this evening, this first time, I'm showing up on every page, at least for now! I'm famous! (Apparently it doesn't take much to amuse me..)
Edit 2: Damn! As of 9:03 PM EST, I'm no longer the "Latest Supporting Member"!
As for me and the Slush machine.. Does anybody here in ETTB remember Slushes? They later became "Slush Puppies", but back in the 70's, they were sold as "Slushes". My late father had a somewhat big Slush distribution territory that ran in 5-6 counties, mostly in SE Kentucky and also down to Knoxville. I rode with him on a lot of supply runs in the 70's to grocery stores all over the place. Fond memories.
That's the story on the "Detritus" thing.

Ldervish and I tried to get together last week, but between my work schedule and the schedule he and his wife were in town for, we didn't get to go eat that BBQ. Next time, Larry!

At least I found out why they call it "Fullservice" !
Isn't there a Blues Cruise from each coast? East goes from Lauderdale maybe and West from San Diego. I'm thinking that's it...

He he, Not going to give it up Michael, I wouldn't want to ruin it for anybody else... let me just say that my visit there was very enjoyable, and the neon "what a rack" is at least a double entendre. I left with a smile on my face LOL.

Don't know how many of you had seen the Dirty Dougs here in Knoxville over the past few years - I did a handful of gigs with them in 2011 and 2012 as a fill-in bass player while they looked for a FT replacement and Doug Harris has sat in on harmonica with my bands off and on, usually when we were playing at Brackins. He was onstage with us for our last gig there on Oct 5 for couple tunes.
Unfortunately, Michael Kirk, their drummer is now deceased after a terrible incident this week in Maryville - RIP.

I figure I need to start posting gig updates. My band, Sandy Ray and the Cold Shoulders, is going to be playing at The Hyperion Bar and Grill, in Greeneville, on October 26. It will be a triple booking with Bootleg Turn ( Hardcore Country would be the best description), Capgun Alliance( kind of a alternative feel to them), and us. I would classify us as a mix between americana and driving country. Good times will be had. If any of you have time and live close enough, come out and say hi! I am the only bald bass player...

worked a TON on tone as the GK amp is not really ... old-school funky ... it's about 2/3rd's mic'd rig and 1/3 line input with the usual studio toys applied to it on those recordings. We are playing Preservation Pub on Wed 11/13 and Brackins on Fri 12/13 - have to scare up more dates after that, which we are actively working on now that we have a presentable recording. The Pub and Brackins booked us just on the strength of me just saying "hey, new band, you know me (all of us), you know it's gonna be worth your time" About M. Kirk: yeah, pretty much everyone who knew him is shocked as **** about it because, well, let's face it there are people you just know or sense are dangerous, crazy, or whatever and he never, ever was like that.
Anyone going to Wisconsin and back to TN in the next few months? Got a line on a cab I want, but shipping is prohibitive. Hit me up, I'll pay for some gas....to help me squash my gas...
