East Tennessee Talkbass

Shout to Chicken Dog (Mike) who bought my Genz 6.2 head out of the Shuttle combo yesterday. Thanks, Mike, enjoy it!

Wow - what a large sound from such a little package. Everything I've owned in the past has been big and/or heavy - Acoustic 360/361, Carvin PB500, ADA MB-1/QSC 1400, and most recently, a Thunderfunk TFB800-B2. I had heard a lot of good things about these Shuttles, and still owning all the previous gear, sans the Acoustic behemoth, I certainly didn't need a new head. But I have been wanting something that I could grab with one hand, and the bass in the other, and just go. I still plan to pair it with a 12T cabinet, if/when I can find one. But I played it through my Schroeder 212PL (4 ohm) and it's definitely got more bottom end than the Thunderfunk. It doesn't have as much headroom, and the TF, rated for 2 ohms, doesn't even blink when I add in the 15PL, dropping the resistance to 2.67 ohms overall, so the TF will still most likely be my go-to head. But I did plug the Genz up to both cabs, and it handled it nicely, but I didn't push it too far, just in case.

I've only played with it here at the house - no gigs because still no band. I've had a few auditions and a few offers, but they just haven't been what I'm looking for, mostly being country/southern rock. That's fine for those that are into that, and I don't mind a song here or there, but I just can't commit to four hours a gig of doing that style of music. Jeff, you asked about Laura and Jim and that group. We decided that just wasn't for us, but Laura and I have been trying to fill the other slots. I'm really hoping something can come about with that - she's got such an incredible voice. I've got a few more auditions/jam sessions lined up for this weekend/coming week, one of which includes her and a keyboardist I've been working with for a while. We'll see what happens.

Really? What's reasonable about a 5 string Double Bass through a PJB suitcase with neo's? Now, a 4 string DB through a Walkabout, that's reasonable. Reasonable won't describe any of your gear that I've seen, Jeff. Beautiful? Desireable? Enviable? Sure! But reasonable? Please...:D

Lol, somebody once stated "subtle is not in your vocabulary is it?"

I've been blessed......I played through the same bass and amp for almost 20 years, so I'm thinking about the analogy of the light bulb burning brightest before it blows out.....
