well another chapter to the story ...

Someone who wanted one of my 4-2-5 basses just purchased the bass from ebay. So as soon as he takes delivery then it will have a happy ending for him, and at least the bass ended up being used and not stored away somewhere.

Will they confiscate instruments from touring musicians???

They have. I have talked to a few musicians in this part of the world who have had their instruments "held" until a couple weeks after they leave the country based on "suspicious" woods. (Belarus is the worst in this part of the world but is not the only one)
