eBay Ripoff

I hate to say it again...this is why I'm not into the "Relic" idea...seems like a fad that dishonest people are rubbing their hands together at the opportunity to scam...buyer beware.

Gotta disagree. Fakery has been happening for longer than you or I have been around. If you think about it, seeing bad relics actually helps us spot them.

In part, the frequency of fakes is increased by "inflated to the sky until stupid" vintage bass prices. These are tumbling due to the world wide financial crisis, but the "Relic idea," as a finish option on lower priced or even custom instruments has actually put downward presssure on the prices of vintage relics and thereby the fakes, IMHO. :p

It simply amazes me how you guys collectively tore this guy to shreds in one day.

I can understand your amazement, but there are many here who can spot blatant fakes like this at once. IMHO, a seller who misrepresents his inventory, even unknowingly, is at the very least irresponsible, and is very likely culpable.

Besides, isn't being eviscerated on TB is a little like, well, being pelted with air guitars?

All IMHO.

I blew up the picture of the pots(dated 23rd week of 82) plastic wire grey bottom pickups. Looks like he forgot to relick the tugbar screws in the first few pics but hit them with a black marker further down the page. This could be an early fullerton RI with a bad neck stamp and swapped out neckplate and a few other changed parts. Who knows maybe in 10 years the buyer might get his money back out of it even with the change parts.

Looked at a few of his ended auctions the 69/70 jazz bass had me laughing wjth the "made in USA" under the decal.
