eBay Ripoff

The neckplate is the giveaway for me. Right off the bat. When I saw the heel stamp it made it even worse. What a bummer. The point that gets lost is, if it sounds good it is. However, $4000.00 plus good remains to be seen. The relicing was too intense. The b/w ones never did it for me anyway.

I`ve followed several of his auctions and they certainly look fishy.

No Paypal, seller is in Indonesia but says he`s in Australia, always heavy reliced basses.....

Is there anything to do in order to stop that crappy seller ?

well, buyer beware. Hopefully, it was some rich gas-bag who bought this who'll just hang it on a wall as if he's a rock star. I don't mean to sound bitter, but if you're dumb enough to get scammed, then maybe you SHOULD get scammed...

I don't know. I've sent them several messages advising them that he's nothing but a liar and scammer, and they don't seem to care.

And eBay doesn't make it easy to report either. They try to pigeon hole the reason for the report and in this case if you try to report it as a fraudulent or misrepresented item they expect you to be the buyer. They want the payment date, payment method, etc.

Pity the poor fool who bid it up, unless he just did so to keep someone else from getting ripped off.

I remember seeing this on Ebay and rolling my eyes... the 'worn' paint is hilarious... the human body doesn't wear paint like that, unless of course you play your bass while you have a couple orbital sanders strapped on in random places...

OTOH, it went for 2500 bucks... it does not appear he is fooling anyone that seriously. Granted you could get the same thing for half the price.

All you need for your ebay auction to do well is two dummies with a lot o' money. :D

why didn't fender do slab rosewood boards in 64'? There is a 61' and a 63' on ebay with slab rosewood boards...

The reason they say they switched was that the slab boards were delaminating from the maple neck, so by adding a radius cut to the rosewood (and thereby making it a veneer), they stopped that problem. To me, it seems (in retrospect) that it was probably more about saving money...I imagine you could get twice as many veneer boards out of a piece of wood as a slab board....

Yeah, that's the way to be. Anyone who could get scammed, should get scammed. Hurry and take advantage of the weak while you can! :scowl:

Wow the comedy hits keep rolling from this seller. Well, at least we know he hasn't cracked open a copy of any of the books dealing with Fender bass history and the actual details. I hope he doesn't. You would also think that any potential customer would get big red flags reading a statement that he doesn't sell any fake Fenders! I'm sorry that someone actually bought the thing. As for me I got a good laugh from a ' Ya gotta' be kidding me! ' point of view.

Well, that wasn't quite me sentiment... Think of it this way: Anyone foolish enough to spend $4000+ without doing his homework... Sorry, if you can afford $4k for a bass, you aren't "weak" and aren't being taken advantage of - you're just being silly. And in a free market, the silly suffer - it's the way of the world. At least we can hope it was an annoying silly person; I rather doubt it was some guy who has been saving his pennies all these years to buy his dream bass...
