EBMM reflex & 25th Anniversary Club

I haven't tried mine with flats, but I am sure that it would be thick n thumpy for sure!

I love the idea of flats, but always end up missing the treble (even though my tone prefernce isn't that bright. Ex chromes player here.

Honestly, for th past two years I have had near zero bass GAS.

Funny, it has been so weird not lusting after other basses that I completed a Warmoth project.

Walnut Warmoth body, maple neck, real nice Delano JJ pickups, Audere pre, BADASS III, nice fender tuners etc etc. Nice stuff.






I HAVE NEVER PLAYED IT.:rollno:

OK, a case of Christmas GAS has led me to ask this question to those of you familiar with both the reflex & Bongo. I didn't know where to ask this question, so figured I'd start here.

Would you say that the reflex is different enough from a Bongo that having 1 of each would not be redundant? (same pickup config - 4HH)

Ever since I got my reflex .. and the Sadowsky Jazz bass before that ... my P bass is being kept in its case more often than not. The EQ on the reflex 4HH is versatile enough to cop a close enough P tone for my needs. So, I'm thinking of flipping the P bass and getting a Bongo 4HH instead. The Bongo is growing on me the more time I spend w/ one.

Here's two clips of my Reflex HHS (maple board).
This is a covers-just-for-fun-band we pick up every now and then. We play all kinds of new and old music, so having such a versatile bass really gives me that extra edge. :)

For this set I used all three pups on both songs with a slight treble boost and high-mid cut to make it fat, but with some added treble bite. I used a Putnam-modded VT-Bass with XLR-out as a DI with all controls more or less at 12 o'clock.
I love how incredible versatile this bass is. I've used it on lots of different projects and it kills every time! In addition to the eq, passive mode and series/parallel/pickup-combinations it really does effects well also. Some basses hate distortion boxes, this one loves 'em. :)

Lonely Boy cover:

No effects, just the bass and the VT-Bass. This is my standard bass-sound.

Don't mind the flubs, we all had a few beers that evening, and those two was the last songs of our set. :p
I'm heading into the studio next month to record bass for an upcoming album, I'll make sure to upload some clean studio tracks when I get started. :)

*EDIT: Oh, and I use Elixir nickel strings.

great stuff, ...Your reflex sounds so cool in a whole live band mix, ...even I'm not a pick style fan, ...but most important is how bass sounds in final, ...and Your reflex sounds pretty cool! :)

P.S. ...on which language were girls sang in the 2nd song?

Hey guys!

I want to get a Reflex at some point this year but since they are so hard to find I've just been playing all the Music Man basses I can at guitar center trying to figure out what kind of PUP layout I want.

I found that the single H sounded kind of... underwater, muddy. I couldn't get a bright sound out of it, which doesn't make sense because I'd assume that a pickup right next to the bridge would be the brightest. I like the way the single H looks but wasn't stoked on how it sounded on sterlings and stingrays. (I did try other PUP layouts to compare)

Is this just me?

OUT of the Club, just shipped mine out today... going back to a Sterling HH5. I LOVED the tone of the Reflex HH5, wow was it fantastic but just a bit too much for me to handle changing tones really fast in my cover band. The Reflex HH5 clearly beat the Sterling in the tonal versatility & overall sound

Thanks for the shot guys! Who knows maybe I'll come back if EBMM releases some crazy awesome color combo I can't pass up on & my band needs change
