Hey man, I'm not sure what I was responding to Deano about. Yes, we do make custom instruments from time to time for artists and friends.

Should I pull the trigger?
So I found a charcoal sparkle online but guitar center doesn't list its weight. I called and asked and the guy said he would put in a request to the warehouse but I'm not going to hold my breath. I wish they did like other online retailers and list the weight by serial number. I know that's not practical on their scale but I dont want to drop $2200 and wind up with a 9.5-10lbs bass. My '04 envy green is 9.7. I could always return it. Anyone here have a charcoal sparkle and know it's weight? A local shop has an aqua sparkle that is 9.6 lbs. I figure the paint job and ebony fret board will make it heavier.
Thoughts, ideas, opinions?

The weight is a roll of the dice. Pretty sure EBMM weighs them before they leave the factory. It would be awesome to know where some of the lightweight ones are going, but they obviously won't want to favor one dealer over another by publishing that info. Let it up to the dealers to make know what they have.
If they ship to a local GC you could open it there and just not buy it if it’s too heavy.
Or wait for online retailer who posts weights.
If weight is an issue it’s good to have that info ahead of time. You’ll be wasting more of the sales guy’s time if you have to return it than if he checks for you!
True. Weight isn't much of an issue now but as I get older it might. I tend to keep my basses around.
Yeah I think the metal flake and ebony make it heavier. My second choice is black and maple.
I ordered my Black/maple 4h online from GC sight unseen. I wasn’t too concerned about the weight but it’s actually just under 8lbs.
Under 8lbs! Lucky.
I pulled the trigger went with Muscians Friend to not pay tax I'll report back next week on weight.
My Charcoal Sparkle 5 HH is right at 8.9 lbs.

Just weighed by Stingray Special 5er at a meagre 8.5 lb.
