Never had any issues like that. I have had issues with Hipshots though. If you go with a replacement, Gotoh makes a far better tuner.

Note to self:
Change my batteries if the tone gets wonky and before there's no sound.

For the last week or so I have noticed that I had been twisting knobs more on my amp and pedals to make my tone sound more like my tone. Then it happened, the volume started cutting in and out and then nothing. My initial reaction was that my Jack was well Jacked. But then a quick battery change and all was glorious again. It's been about 6 months of daily play since my last battery change. I won't wait so long for the next change.

How long do your batteries last? This SRS5 is my #1 and I play it almost every day for a few hours if I'm lucky. I always unplug it and store it in it's case. Is 6 months about par for the course?

Hm. Can’t say for sure but the new 18v pre is supposed to last three times as long as the old 9v one. Meanwhile, my Ray 9v is going on a year with daily practice.

I think the battery recommendation is due to slight size variations between different battery brands. In any case, my basses last at least a year without a change of batteries but I also switch it up and play different basses each night.

Well if they weren't Duracell, then I don't think they weren't the original batteries. Who knows how long they had been in there before you got the bass?

FYI related to batteries-
I was having a weird popping sound every now and again happen. I read that quick release battery boxes can have bad contact between the battery and the connector pieces and cause noise or slightly weak signal. I put a small piece of folded paper at the back of each battery and the problem went away. Basically I made a snugger fit so the battery stays in better contact. I think this is why they recommend Duracell (which was in there already) as they are very slightly longer than some others. I was even reading that some have to eventually bend the contact pieces upward to keep good contact too. Seems like a rarer problem but wanted to share.

This is a fairly common problem - gotta use the longer batteries, or else this happens.

IMHO, the battery box is the biggest design flaw on these basses.

I didn’t have any noises since October when I put in the Energizer Batteries. I have bought an 8 pack and had two batteries left yesterday when my bass died and used the last two Energizers. The replacement energizers weren’t working right. It would be fine then slowly fade out to no sound and I would need to take my cable out of the Jack and re-engage it. I thought maybe they were just old (not used but bought six months ago) so I replaced them with the Duracells and it’s been great since. Fingers crossed.

In 2022 I believe the batteries & power management is still something that could be improved on.

I have the Batt-O-Meter but it does not work on 18v pre-amp (which are becoming very common now) so it's a bit of a hassle to take out the battery and test each of them.

Yes the common practice would be to just change the batteries at regular period but...my Sustainabiliy-heart is telling me that it's not a good move for the environment...

Well, next evolution for the Stingray is a passive/active switch, c'mon Ibanez is doing it and it's a great back up options

I thought the same thing last night. Thankfully I was practicing at home and not at a gig or rehearsal.
