Interesting. I had a much different impression of their feel..
FWIW, my favorite rounds are DR nickel Lo Riders with Ken Smith Burners in second pace but I also like Elixir Nanowebs and GHS Pressurewounds. Although, those last two are about as flexible as I’d want to deal with. Any string more flexible than them just doesn’t work with my apparently gorilla-like plucking technique.
For flats, there’s a tie between Chromes and the Labella DTFs, depending on the sound I want. But they both have the stiff feel I love. I do NOT like TI Jazz Flats, which I find WAY too flexible for my tastes. I have a mixed opinion on their sound, too, depending on the bass I had them on.
I might have to consider them the next time I change strings on my Special.

The lightest Cobalt Flats are very flexible. They are absolutely perfect on a stingray. Along with Labellas on a precision bass, they are, to me, an absolutely flawless tone.
I have to order the super slinky gauge In the Ernie Ball Slinky Flat because I find the standard slinky gauge to be too stiff.
I like a flexible string that is as light as possible. Thats why I also play TI Jazz Flats and TI Jazz rounds.

I love the Cobalt flats on my PJ Fender. Thought about putting them on my SRS but the Fender required a new setup with the flats. Assuming different tension etc. Not ready to do that to my new baby just yet. She's set up perfect from the factory. New pickguard just showed up too. Pics to follow

I've posted before how I do not like TI Jazz Flats as I had tried them out on a few different basses and removed them almost immediately each time. With that said, the last bass I tried them on is an SBMM Ray34 and I was pretty surprised to find that I actually liked them quite a bit on that bass. So much so that I have kept them on there and am thinking about buying another set for another Ray34. But yeah, on other basses I didn't like them very much.

The super slinky flats are 45-100 right? I was considering the extra slinky 40-95 flats, but am concerned they will be too floppy and lose their punch.
Anyone want to venture a guess at what the body wood is for this bass? Alder?

I use the extra slinky. I also have a custom single on the low B. But they have since discontinued that offering . I use this on my 5H and 5HH.
My Fretless and Short scale wear TI flats.
My Old Smoothie wears GHS bright flats ala Bernard Edwards .
I would guess alder. I’m pretty sure my Amethyst Sparkle is alder .
I would say alder as well with it having a semi transparent finish? (Prettier wood)
Ash has more visible grain pattern and more scooped in the mids with tighter bass….. brighter.
Alder is more present in the lows and mids ….. warmer .
What does EBMM say about it when you enter the serial number in their Serial Number Finder?
