Has anyone here put thicker gauge strings than the shipped 105 E on their SRS? Im considering throwing on some for a bit more tension, but it doesn't look like with the compensated nut that there is any space for a thicker string without filing it, which id rather not mess with in case i want to go back down!

I had a 2011 SR5 that was natural finish, maple neck, chrome bridge & tuners, and black control knobs. It looked great.
The knobs are too easy to switch out if the price of the bass is right.
I believe it was white. but I almost immediately bought a pearloid white pickguard for it.
This bass was an SR5 I sold, but wound up bass-sitting for a couple of years while the owner moved and resettled his parents. I can borrow it anytime, but with my new Special, I don't have to.
This is still one of the best-looking basses I have ever owned.
(I gotta say, if I say so myself, I've never owned an ugly bass.....
)
After foolishly letting a white sparkly BFR 5 string go last summer I pulled the trigger on this 2 weeks ago. I've had it for a week. Gigged with it Saturday and it is everything I could have hoped for in tone and playability. 8.5 lbs, ash body, maple board. Looks great on stage too!

White was the very 1st Stingray color that I ever wanted . When I was a young girl, I dreamed my white StingRay would look like this.
But I prefer the Specials , 5 strings, and sparkles with gold bling so I need up with this.
I almost bought one of these . But I knew that big slab body 5 was too much of me. Sparkles in this one are rainbow . Mu sparkle ar silver and gold.

Very much so. That bass is so resonant . Setting 3 and 4 get the most use. When I want a thick and meaty tone with a low B, that's my go to. Something about setting 2 sucks the life out of the low B . That might be the light gauge super slinky cobalt flats. ( So I decided to keep my Sandberg because its a superb super Jazz .)
When I need more traditional Stingray tones but need the low B, I use my Amethyst Sparkle 5H.

I got one also. Still coming to grips with it sound and playing wise, but it’s a really amazing bass. Mine is more flamey and yours is more quilty. It’s definitely my most flashy looker in the stable. It could easily become #1!
