EBMM StingRay Special Club

Zzounds has been great to deal with over the years for me.
I ordered my new Stingray from them, and like usual, it came in great shape. Their customer service and return policy has been good to deal with as well over the years. I must have order at least 20 basses from them, and even more Mesa gear over the last 5 years.

I just got my matte black pickguard for my new Brulee Special and it looks good. I have a creme colored one coming as well, not sure which one I’ll go with.

Not my experience with Zzounds at all. I've had at least 2 used items from them being sold as new, one a Mesa D-350 bass head was used, box had been opened with a snapped off bright switch someone had returned. I don't think they know the concept of double boxing a bass, even expensive ones, horrible packing. Anything returned will be held against you including wrong items sent and damaged gear. I've been giving my business to Sweetwater lately, and a huge plus with Sweetwater is with that their basses you can see the exact bass you will be getting including the weight. With anyone buying a new EB Stingray Special this benifit alone is worth its weight in gold. With Zzounds to get what ever they happen to send you luck of the draw, single boxed beat to a pulp to boot.

Wow, sorry to hear that.

I have also had great experiences with Sweet Water. My rep there is excellent, and has really helped out on orders over the past few years.

Some of you may remember that I bought a purple EBMM SR5 from Sweetwater earlier this year. Due to a series of unfortunate incidents, I chose to return it (tbh: I shouldn’t have bought it. It was a total impulse buy… close to the register).

After some time, I really missed the bass. And my daughter kept reminding me that it was her favorite bass I ever owned. Sooo…. last weekend, I went back to Sweetwater and ordered another one. To my surprise, my Sales Engineer canceled my order, refusing to sell it to me, because of the prior return. D’oh!!

Not to be denied, I went shopping and found this beauty at Willcutt Guitars in Kentucky. It’s even prettier than the one I returned. Plus, I got a KILLER discount!!

It’s gorgeous, lightweight and in NO danger of going anywhere.

And in case you’re wondering, one carefully worded letter to Sweetwater’s VP/Director of Sales (with a strategic cc to the CEO) and I now have a new Sales Engineer (he plays bass!). Life is good.

I had my eye on one of these at Sweetwater – the finish looks unbelievable! I haven't been brave enough to commit to spending that much money on an instrument before, but Purple Sunset might be the thing that finally gets me to do it.

I hope you have fun with this one! :bassist: And hey, let me know if you change your mind about it again... ;)

Man this bass is calling my name.

Hey folks! This came up from a local seller and was trying to find more info on this model online and having a hard time. He's claiming its a BFR model from 2019 but I can't find it on the EBMM site - any ideas what model this is / legit check so I can value the proposed trade would be greatly appreciated!

I don't see it on the list of stuff on the BFR page, either. Can you get the serial number and check it out on the serial checker: Serial Number Database

Well first you can check is the neck plate, it should say BFR and the serial numbers. It doesn’t lie. 2019 is pretty recent it should be easy to check.

This looks like one of mine. Mine isn't a BFR, but it is a limited edition Transparent Amber Special made for Pitbull Audio in San Diego. I put flats on mine, and love everything about it.

That looks like one of the runs Pitbull Audio did back around Covid. It’s very likely legit but check it against the SN database if possible.

EDIT - looks like someone else beat me to it lol. I was very interested in buying one of those a few years back.
