EBMM StingRay Special Club

Fantasizing about this custom design fretless... Maybe next year I'll be ready to pull trigger. Hoping if I wait long enough a lined fretless 5H will show up in the classifieds.

Anyone get a Blue Dream finish yet? Feel like the configurator does not show the colors very well.

Does anyone know of a simple fix for a push pull active passive volume switch to make a new StingRay have the feature like their new signature model?
More so meaning does Ernie ball offer a part made by them?

Not sure if that bass has a passive tone control though.

Thanks.

NBD for me. Well used but practically new with plastic still on the pickguard. This 2023 Stingray Special arrived today. I mentioned this in another post but I found this for sale on reverb and asked the seller to sell it privately to save me the taxes and him the fees. He ended up giving me a good deal.
When I first picked it up I was shocked how light it is. 7.9 lbs
Balance very well too
Spent tonight changing the strings and doing a setup. So far so good.
I need to spend allot more time with it but my initial impressions are great so far.

Looks great, and it's still amazing to me when these basses show up around (or even under) the 8lb mark. Congrats on the new bass!

Another update on my new Custom Stingray 5 H that was having electronics issues: After sending them a video of the issue, Musicman was awesome and paid for return shipping to them so they could take a look. Obviously not great to be without it for a while, but will be nice to have it back in full working order.

While I wait for its return, I've been in full fanboy mode and have been listening to as many classic Stingray tracks as I can. While doing this, I came across Teena Marie's Square Biz, which I had somehow never heard. Wow, what a great line! Had never heard of Allen McGrier before either, but now I'm going down the rabbit hole. Kinda makes me want a Retro 😬

I went through the same thing a couple years ago, and got it back fairly quickly. Been good as new since.

One of the main reasons that I play a StingRay is because of Allen and his bass lines. FYI, he has a great interview on YouTube with the Detroit Bass Players. He actually gives background info and demos his best known bass lines .
