EBMM StingRay Special Club

Are the Darkrays useful to achieve a subtle warm overdrive tone, as an always-on tone enhancer? Or is it really more of a metal Darkglass grind machine?
Yes with blend control you can get subtle overdrive: warm depends on your perception

But it's main design is to get 'Darkglass Metal grind'

I used Sushi Box Space Heater Tube pedal with my Special for subtle warm overdrive with success for my taste: I now have Mesa WD 800 with tube pre that works for me using increased input gain and adjusting Para EQ to taste

Question for the folks in this thread....

I have a 2022 BFR Stingray 5 fretless. Mostly hangs on the wall. Any time I've picked it up before yesterday, there are no issues.

Yesterday, went to plug it in, and there's no sound at all. No hum, static, nothing. Absolute silence. Replaced the batteries with new ones but that did nothing. Took the back plate off and there's nothing obviously disconnected or even loose. I checked my amp with a different bass and that's not the issue. Turned all the knobs on the Stingray, but I got nothing. The bass doesn't leave the house and hasn't been dropped or even moved around all that much.

I'm at a loss on what to do next. Has anyone experienced something like this before?

That's what I was thinking. Or the battery box contacts are not good. Battery box is the Specials biggest weakness. I've had to bend the contacts on mine to stay touching the battery

I'm going to see what I can do with the battery box. I did notice the clips to pull the box have seen better days. Hoping I can get resolved this route without having to do anything with the input jack.

Heads up to the group… I’m going to be putting up my 2025 StingRay Special 4H in Dazzler. It’s in flawless condition, EBMM branded Mono Case (love these) with the tools etc. can provide photos for those who are interested and want to DM me. Just a heads up, if you haven’t seen a Dazzler in person you really don’t get the scope of what the photos provide… it’s epic. White to pink, to green and blue shifts with metal flake.

Only reason I’m letting this go is because the new Bongo colors - I’m leaning into Bongos. Dazzler Bongo…. Yes. Bongo’s cover my modern needs and my Sereks will cover my vintage needs.

So hit me up. Also have a 1999 US Sterling in darn near perfect condition black with bwb pg and maple on maple. Epic smooth to play, a chameleon so to speak the series mode is cooking… classic looking. As mentioned if it weren’t for being a Bongo man and the new colors… you get it.

anyone have this dazzler finish? looks like it may vary quite a bit, then again the second picture is def more blown out, so i'm assuming it looks white?View attachment 7523328
I do, it’s epic in person. It’s white but there is color shift pearl and different color flakes. Highly dependent on angle and lighting.

I’m actually selling a mint 2025 StingRay Special 4H in Dazzler so I can get a Bongo 4HH in the 2026 Dazzler. I’ll be taking pics I’ll see if I can get something that captures. It’s just real hard and so cool in person and no comparison.

The white is absolutely, drop dead gorgeous. Tort IMO is not a good look on this AWESOME color. When I was in the market for one, I planned on going black but the white is absolute, 100% perfection. WOW. I might have to get one now. That looks so good. Up there as the best looking StingRay of all time. The white looks even better here that on Natural Ash.

Found some good pics in the other club thread. It's indeed quite dazzling.

Hope I like it in person. Just ordered one.

For what it's worth, it's not a colorway I typically would choose, but I saw in a GC one day and thought it was incredible. Changed my mind (though I didn't buy it as it was a used one that GC couldn't sell at the time).

Thanks for the reply. I've been wanting a 4HH for a while now and got a good deal on this as open box.

Same. I would not consider myself a glitter fan though I do really love the white/maple combo which led me to this finish. Glad to hear you liked it.

That’s rad!!!!

Glad you got a deal.

I tried to capture it, it’s very hard to get what it does. There are green and blue hues that do a pearlescent depending on angle. It’s as if the camera will only get some of it.

The flake density is higher, you tend to only get glints of one color at a times.

The heavy flashes of pink are great but to the eye the other colors are present as well they just change predominantly as the angles shift.

Here’s some outside light with the garage door open as it was much brighter.

Here is a video that was just shared with me.

Still doesn’t do it justice but getting closer.

Here is another one even closer but still not how hard it goes in person.
