Yes, because nobody is dying and the laws of disease transmission cease to exist in the United States.

A lot of illnesses have a high mortality rate but do not spread easily and therefore remain below the freak-out threshold.
It will not spread like that in our country. We have doctors and medical facilities here. They don't have that in Liberia.
Do you know what all these diseases are? I never heard of some of them.Disease - Mortality Rate
Prion Diseases (TSE, etc.) - 100%
Primary amoebic meningoencephalitis - 100%
Anthrax, inhalational - >93%
Granulomatous amoebic encephalitis, Balamuthia mandrillaris & Acanthamoeba - >90%
Lujo virus disease - 80%
Ebola virus disease (for all types of ebolavirus outbreaks combined) - 60-65%
Absolutely correct in this case. All except the unknowingly part.Heres a startling prediction made nearly two months ago by a TB member:
"But seriously, the Ebola virus is more likely to be spread by (unknowingly) affected passengers on international flights."
(see post #67)

Yes, and it has been predicted for YEARS as being more or less eventually inevitable.
Diseases carried by prions such as Transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE), Kuru, and
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease in humans, Mad Cow Disease in cattle, Chronic Wasting Disease in deer, and Scrapie in sheep.
Meningitis caused by Naegleria fowleri amoeba
Sure you've heard of this one.
Amoeba activity of various sorts forming general infections that attack mostly brain tissue.
arenavirus similar to Lassa Fever virus, causes viral hemorrhagic fever.
Yet another virus that causes viral hemorrhagic fever.
prove it smart guy.
It's spreading - relatively fast. The number of new cases reported is growing significantly. You don't need to know that much more to be fearful.

Huh? They have doctors and medical facilities in Liberia.

That man knew he was exposed to Ebola. He knew his only chance of getting any possible help was getting the "F" outta Dodge and on a plane to The USA so he lied on his medical questionaire.
Bringing patients to the US for treatment is madness and goes against every rule of epidemiology. CONTAINMENT being FIRST and FOREMOST.
Okay did you know about them before you looked them up on the internet?![]()
And suppose those resources become overwhelmed....It will not spread like that in our country. We have doctors and medical facilities here. They don't have that in Liberia.
Yeah, and should the "doctors and medical facilities" in the US become overwhelmed, I'm sure you will gladly give up your family's spot in line because, hey, the death rate in the US at one time was zero. And due to the 'essentially' non-existent medical facilities in the effected areas, that's why the Very Lucky few have been transported to US hospitals where the death rate, so far, is 0%.
If all things were equal, the death rate should be much higher than Zero.
Great medical care is substantially better and produces increased positive outcomes than, for all intents and purposes, No Effective medical care in the effected areas of Africa.
