Eden Glowplug!!

Thanks to all you I ordered one. Love it.

Think there is only one site in Europe that has them, for a decent price. I’m used to a rather clean sound, swr and markbass. A bit more compressed growl would be nice though. Hoped the pedal would give me the dynamic extra I remembered from my swr 350 I sold years ago. So…it will probably do that, maybe better with a new tube. It is totally not a modern metal sound. It’s meant to give your class D amp a kick.
So for now it has AC35CD95-AA2F-4471-9C02-94FD7C5F9631.jpeg a great fat tubemonster sound. It can get low and slightly overdriven or great fat overdrive. I remember big old Musicman stacks an SVT’s I played that made that sort of overdrive. Deep Purple on steroids. With an extra pedal it gives you Muse. Chorus (ce5) before and after both nice. Before for now. For old school it also likes a compressor. Tried it only on swr 10” set and headphones. Spector and fretless jazz. Next week I’ll play on my old fender 15” that I keep in a rehearsal space. Might get too woolly, or not ;). Love this pedal! It’s about the size of a Boss pedal, only turned sideways.

I’ve been using my Glowplug extensively when I moved to an ampless system. It gives me that thick old school bounce that I’ve come to love and adore from my Mesa Walkabout. My bass sounds thick and full even through our mediocre PA speakers! It’s subtle but I can’t see gigging without it now that I’ve “felt” the difference it makes.

I bought one recently thanks to this thread. Killer deal. I just spent a few days working with it. I really like it. I am NOT really an effects guy although they fascinate me. IMO this one sounds the best I've tried or heard online for a mild to middle bass overdrive. The only way I can describe it is it sounds like Grand Funk both as the desirable mild overdrive to a wild Mel tone. No loss of low end to my ears. I play a Mesa D800+ which I love but it's a dry sound. The Glowplug adds something wonderful. I have it generally set this way (L to R):

Warmth: 9 o'clock
Lo to Hi affected range: 2 to 4 o'clock
Mix: I vary this setting the most but often 12 noon
Volume: set a little higher than unity w/ pedal off for a little boost.

Thanks! I play the same amp, I really like it. I am looking for a bit of tubey feel and natural breakup when I want it. I have a few overdrive pedals that give me a good overdrive sound but color my tone and don't necessarily add any feel if that makes sense. I would really like to find that feel with the same clarity but fatter.
Does this pedal make your sound darker or can you still get some of your highs and articulation still?
Currently playing a Sandberg VM5 and a G&L JB.

Im not using one at the moment. Sold it and went through a bunch of other tube options, but the glow plug is still amazing in my book. Throw in a lower rated tube and there is a magic window that will change the way you view life as you know it.

I have a 4 OTF coming in and am hoping that Andy got some magic in there for me to match up with my D800+. But I just saw this tube pedal and your OP and now I am thinking maybe a real tube is better than tube emulation. Damn GAS!

The glowplug was my first step into tubes. It's worth it. Relatively cheap and sounds great. I'm really a hypeman for the thing, I guess...

I have a Maiden D... can't decide whether it works well as a preamp. It might color the tone too much for bass, though I LOVE what it does for a regular electric guitar. Any reason to not use it for bass? Same questions for using the clean boost channel (at unity gain) on a Kingsley Jester?

Gas, and I wanted the features of the SLO. I've started using the SLO for guitar too. Sounds great. I also have the bass mod on the Kingsley which adds a little more bass.

How is the floor noise on the Glowplug? I tried the WTDI when they were sold for 60 bucks new and it felt like it added all the disadvantages of a tube circuit into my signal chain (a rich, warm analog carpet of noise floor) without giving me any advantages to speak of. I returned it two days later.

I don't remember experiencing any noise with mine..

new to the club, glad to see this thread is still kicking.

So at home on my lil practice amp it sounded cool. I was able to get some phat drive and add a lot of warmth.

So, excitedly, put it on my board to try it out in context at band practice. And it was lousy.... either it made barely any impact on my tone, or was just sooooo tubby and boomy. What am I doing wrong?
