Eden WT800C amp woes!! Anyone else having Problems?

I had a small problem with Eden only once. I e-mailed David N. and never got a response at all. Lane just got snappy with me.It seems that their attitude is that the amount of cash that you spent on their head is nothing to them, and it seems to me that the attitude is, well, why don't you have two, so you have a spare, while this one is repaired. Sorry, but I don't know but a few musicians in my circle, that have that kind of cash. I hate the attitude terribly, but love my Eden amp. I too think that in your particular case, they should have just fired you out another new one. I'd bet they have no more than 250 bucks in each one, and this kind of advertising can only hurt more than what they may loose on selling off the used one. That's what Carvin does. They get them back, repair them, and off them on E-Bay, as blems and such. I will continue to use Eden until I find something that sounds as good, or better, that I can afford, but it is DAMN frustrating dealing with them, as a company.

The sad thing is, this is only b/c there's been so MANY problems lately that the top guys are having to step in and handle it themselves (or throw their name in there) to save any face at all. You should read a similar thread from a similar forum about their experiences with Eden in the past year...

You know, I take that as a sign that they have real problems. Once a company gets to a certain size you don't want the top guys doing the work at the coal face. They ought to be organizing the show so that problems are minimized. Ensuring that competent c/s staff are hired, equipped and trained is part of that job. If they're doing the front line work who's doing the CEO's job, the tea lady? OK that's harsh but you get my drift.

When I buy a Mercedes type amp I expect Mercedes style customer service.. Not Yugo CS!

well i called eden usmusic today to find the status of my RA.. I told him that Davids said it was on the bench on tuesday..... the cs guy had no idea and said the current turn around would be about 2 months more.. and they only have 1 tech working today...
so here we go round and round.. its a merry go round i tell ya...
With my eden wt800c i am waiting to be knocked out by the excellent CS on my repair.. but im still waiting.. I bought the amp and the day after i got it returned for a manufacturing defect repair.. it was local warranty shop.. came back a month later NOT fixed.. so i sent it in to Eden for RA repair.. it is 2 months this week that i bought it.. and had it in my hands for less than 2 days.
I am an amp endorser of another company.. I have used their gear for almost 2 decades...the gear went around the world about 3 times and hundreds and hundreds of local gigs that i drop it in my car and go.. i never had one failure.. NEVER... so i am really worried about my brand new amp that i bought because it sounded so good.. paid cash.. and have not been able to use it for 2 months...
I am very frustrated. have spoken with Lane. He is very supportive and i feel bad that he has to take all this heat... but that is part of the job.. we have all been in the hot seat at one time or another... it comes with the territory.. and now i am in the hot seat because I have to pay for backline heads on my fly to gigs..

but im truly worried about the build quality of my amp.. going for 2 repairs and not having it since i got it... I have had promises that it was being worked on .. that it is on the bench etc.. but eden got paid.. the store got paid....everyone got their money and paid for their work... i got screwed so far.. that is how i feel... a grand and a half just floating .. i don’t have that kind of cash to just float...I hope the CS gets better but right now the Customer Service Dept at USmusic SUX.. I have never seen anything like it in my life...

I want to be able to come back here and write that i was all wrong.. i was taken care of better than i expected... and Eden CS is fantastic.. time will tell

yeah. the CS is terrible... Its like they dont want your business...
Lane called the other day and gave me a few reasons why things are behind.... but after speaking with the CS dept today... it makes me want to just call the BBB...and frankly it is not my problem... i already have a problem and it is that my gear is not working or in my hands...
there is a guy on another forum that is doing just that,, and went the next step to sue them for an amp that has been out way longer than mine... well i hope he goes for punitive damages too..
in order for me to feel good at this point they will have to do something just short of the second coming to put a smile on my face... i am not in the practice of doing company name bashing but it is getting close...

svtb15,
(IMHO warning!)
At this point, I'd talk to the dealer and try to get my money back or at least store credit towards another amp (if they have one you like) or a bass, or something. That might send a message to Eden/USM how serious this problem is. I would hope the dealer would be willing to work with you on this and extend a special courtesy all things considered.

My current problem is, it sounds like their tech department is lacking in staff, and potentially expertise as well. Either way, I don't see how they could assure the kind of quality and reliability this kind of product should have.

Yes, as you can tell, my confidence in Eden is dwindling very seriously with all this... :(

Odd, when I had my 1205, I didn't really know about all this, and the amp worked fine for me, especially after the gain mod (which it could still use more, but worked fine for me, but that's another thread). So I don't have any confidence problems with that amp at all (and I did have the lid off, and it seemed very well made). I sold it because I was actually planning on replacing it with an 800C since that amp would really meet my needs better. However, at this point, I think Eden is dropping off my radar for the first time in several years, and this breaks my heart... this is NOT good... :( :( :( :(

My the guy I mentioned who had the year-long ordeal with Eden ended up getting a brand new WT800 at the end of it and sold it.

I'm not sure how many pages that thread went, but, it was long to say the least.

I'd start thumpin' for a new amp ASAP to be honest with you and then sell it if the store won't give you credit or a refund.

A thunderfunk is looking WAY better every minute..
I would only want my money back for the eden if it comes to that.. no trades and I am willing to go to court to do it... and sue as far as the law will allow me to..including any possible punitive damages...it sounds harsh but a grand and a half is alot of money to float out there..

Yeah, the longer it's drawn out the worse it's going to be and look better on their end from someone in a legal position who would make a determination as to why you didn't act sooner.

Make sure and mention it to the Eden chiefs beforehand to see if it gets a little spark going but otherwise I'd advise you to move forward.
It is pretty crazy. No need to have a fellow Texan suffer now! :D

thunderfunk is looking better every day
Well, I'm a VERY happy owner of same. IMHO, it's a fantastic amp (even if Eden was not having any of these problems, mine would go NOWHERE!), but if you really need the kind of horsepower the 800C/1205 put out, it won't get you there. It's a strong 550W for sure, but it ain't no 1KW+.

Got my wt800c back today... i plugged it in.. set all controls flat ... Guess what the Mute still is not working.. before, the gain control when pulled out, would operate the MUTE as it should, but it would cause a huge LOUD thud through the speakers...now it does not mute at all.. it in fact BOOSTS the gain and i get a wahh type of eq sound with lots of hiss on top.. Im pretty Pi$$ed.. got the amp 2 months ago .. it has been in repair 2 times since then.. I have not had it a day.. and now it has to go out again... and i cant get my money back becasue it is over 60days...:crying: :crying: I know(cry baby)I have to go to NAMM tomorrow so i wont be here to ship it back.. and eden cant send a new one to replace it becasue they DONT HAVE ANY.. I never heard of such BS..extremely pi$$ed off right now

Man, that's a real bummer!

I'd settle for nothing less than a new amp. They owe that to you.

......of course then I'd recommend that you sell the new amp they give you and buy a ThunderFunk!:hiding:

svtb15,

I'm well aware of your plight. I'd push the store for a refund or an amp that works 100%. The fact that you had the amp for less than 24 hours, is enough reason for that. I'm an Eden fan but, this problem should be Eden's and the stores not yours. BTW, you have been very objective in all this. I hope you catch up with Lane and David at NAMM as well, so you can let them know. Good luck.

man , i am trying so hard to not be an A$$... thanks for the support.. I will see them at NAMM and see how they can help..
If I did not like the sound of the amp so much it would never have gone THIS far... but I got a Lemon..

I emailed Dave at Eden and told him my situation, I asked if he could exchange the amp for a new one.. He said they do not have any in stock. so no he could not do that... The store is out too..
I simply want to keep everything straight here and upfront so other people can see what is happening to other typical gear users... so this is a bump for all to read if they care.

I honestly don't know how they expect to stay in business this way. Someone related a positive story about CS provided to them by T-funk, I have personally witnessed unreal CS from Genz-Benz, and have heard of other CS success stories provided by companies from GK to Mesa. Based on svtb's experience and 2 others I have read about on other forums, I have to say Eden has the worst customer service I have ever heard of. Most will agree that their amps sound fantastic, and they do, but what good does that do you if you can't count on it.

SVTB, can you bring the amp to them at NAMM?? Show them what is going on and give them a chance to make the situation right? The other stories I have read were all excuses and sob-stories on Eden's part. They claimed in those sitaution to have taken measures to ensure these things don't happen again. They have clearly failed. I would show them, in person, what is going on and see what happens. Please let us know how your situation turns out, for better or worse. Best of luck to you.

I have a WT-550 that is in for service. My fault, no problem I'll pay, whatever. I probably won't see it for at least another 2 months. That will be 10 weeks total.

I have bought a new amp and will be selling my serviced 550 as soon as I get it back. I'm not sure about my new Eden 210 cab yet. Cabs don't have as much to go wrong so if I can make use of it I may keep it. We'll see.

There are plenty of other great sounding amps and cabs out there. I think I am through with Eden.

HEy guys -

As many of you know I have an Eden endorsement. The level of customer service has fallen dramatically in the last 3+ years. Even for guys with deals.

I had to send an amp back and got the run around for a few weeks. Finally my rep stepped in but bythat time it was just a mess.

This has really made me think twice about the company froma CS stand point. Also, I keep hearing more and more horror stories of amps being messed up straight from the factory.

I am no one special at all but you;d think I could get good service from the company that signed me. I guess not.

I feel you guys' pain and I hope things get turned around soon. My feeling is that it is going to take a while given they just moved manufacturing from Minnesotta to Illinois.

Too bad because they make a very good product. :(
