Eden WT800C amp woes!! Anyone else having Problems?

yeah. the CS is terrible... Its like they dont want your business...
It's just my opinion but it seems to me you've given these people every opportunity to put things right. They haven't, so they either don't want to or are not capable of doing so. I don't see why further approaches to the company will produce a different result. Do you?

If I was in your position I would just get rid of the amp and write it off to experience. I find the kind of experience you are currently enduring just too unpleasant - life is too short for that kind of bs. Get rid of it and get on with making music. I'm sure others who are considering eden products appreciate you relating your experiences with the company. Good luck.

SVTB, can you bring the amp to them at NAMM?? Show them what is going on and give them a chance to make the situation right? The other stories I have read were all excuses and sob-stories on Eden's part. They claimed in those sitaution to have taken measures to ensure these things don't happen again. They have clearly failed. I would show them, in person, what is going on and see what happens. Please let us know how your situation turns out, for better or worse. Best of luck to you.
It is able to be done.. but i better not.. i dont want to get at one end of a fire storm... it would suck getting tossed out of NAMM...:hmm: ... im sure you would see it on your nightly news if it got to that..;)
i will bring it up and just be as respectful as i can... but your idea sure is a good one that would get results...

you are right.. but i will allow them one more shot at it... only because i love the way the amp sounds... i could have gone with the thunderfunk but it does not do 2 ohms.. i would have to get 2.. so one more shot.. thats it..

I am currently having Eden woes;
Sent my amp in for repair in the beginning of December. They have called me 3 times to give me the estimate for repair. On two occasions i told them that they already called me. They cannot even tell me what the problem is because the only way CS can communicate with the Techs is thru email (so CS told me today.)

What really kills me is that CS told me today "oh, that repair should only take an hour." Really ? You cannot tell me what is wrong with the amp but you know how long it will take to fix ?

Anyhoo, I fired off another email to Lane and one to CS.

This is just really depressing to me, i sat down the other day looking at a possible head for the summer time (chances are i'll be going on a small east coast tour) all of these remarks have totally turned me away.

CS is supposed to be good when you fork out that much money for a product.

Well if you ever want to hear a WT405 or a WT1205 with a D212xlt or (2) D210xst's send me an email.....I live in the same state...and it's small.

Real sorry to hear about this. Any manufacturing company that expects customers to wait weeks or even months for a repair has to start doing something different, in my opinion. Company policy should include some sort of strategy for providing service as an integral part of what they do.

+1

Has it occured to anyone at Eden to hire more qualified techs? It's clear they're short staffed, or short the qualified techs. I would think that would solve this probelem, but I guess that would be too logical. What's crazy is that there's a number of people that have yet to send in their amps because they know that the repair time is already too long.

I've tried to keep up on this ongoing thread but is it mainly the WT800 that has the problems (something about a short wire in a harness). I don't remember reading much wrong with the WT550 correct? I have been considering a D212xlt used but it's funny how Eden's attention to these amp problems effects my attitude to supporting anything with their name on it. And I definately love their tone.

No, you're not whining.
Brand new amp failure ought to mean "exchange for working unit" while they fix the failed one, figure out why, and make production changes.
I'm very disappointed to hear Land and David are aware of this, and it's still taking months to get a working amp.
If they want working professionals like us to continue to use and support their product, they ought to do better.
Working musicians need working gear.
I have an 800B, and a Nav, and so far have not had problems with either.
If this is the level of support one gets when there is trouble, that's enough to drive me out.
When my Thunderfunk developed problems, Dave fixed it-same day turnaround, at no charge, and paid returned expedited freight. I was back on the road all pronto-like.

it will be 2 months on saturday.... and the amp was brand spankin new... ok now im whinning

My 550 is in for service and I'm selling it as soon as it gets back to me - sometime in March I'm told.

No.

You'll see posts about the 550 here as well, and also the 1205. The 1205, while not actually a "failure", has gone through multiple gain stage mods, and while the latest one does a decent job of driving the amp (finally), there's still untapped reserves unless you have a really hot bass or a second preamp in front of it. That in and of itself is not that big of a deal, especially with the current mod, but this is at least the second mod that amp has gone through, and 1205 owners trying to get their amps updated have had very similar horror stories about their amp being gone for MONTHS. The worst part is, I happen to know that update only involves about 30-60min worth of total bench time for even a moderately qualified tech.

Basically, IMHO(!) anybody that needs an Eden amp serviced, better have a backup amp, because it'll be gone for a very extended period. They should also not necessarily trust the results, because obviously, they don't do any testing.

This is not good, and I will also personally talk to Dave and Lane at NAMM about this (tho in a very civil tone... I don't want to bash them, I want them to FIX IT!!).

I think a big part of the problem is, and this bears verification, but I believe the tech department is not Eden-specific. It's just general USM tech/repair, and as such, Dave might not have enough say over things to effect the proper changes. There was something about a "shop move" a while back... I'm curious if that meant that the REAL Eden tech folks in MN were let go and all the service work got transferred to generic USM techs in IL (I believe), and just had stuff added to their pile of work.

For all I know, Dave's already been all up in someone's grill about this... dunno... I have to believe this has happened, tho, because I've met Dave multiple times and he sure didn't seem like the kind of jackass that'd be ok with any of this... in fact, quite the opposite... he's seemed like a very good engineer that is very customer oriented. I dunno what the heck is going on here...

Yes please!
I really dig my Edens, but were they to fail and be gone for months-like a previous poster-upon their return, they and I would part ways.
