Eden wt800c,,,,I guess.

Hi guys, through my search for the tone and power I'm after I landed for a moment on this Eden wt800 and from what I gather, the ones you can buy new are the C version.

So then further reviewing, I see a lot of issues.

What's something similar of equal pricing or less?

Similar tones, more reputable?

Not sure what the current line is like, but I had a WT550B for years and never experienced any issues at all. So, I guess I'd suggest a WT550B? Do you need all the wattage from the 800?
Well the more I study the tech side of amps and not tone only, I'm seeing that you don't need a zillion watts to gig good size shows. I just hate the thought of getting attached to a head, then some day not having the head room.

Eden had QA issues during corporate reshuffling some time ago when they switched to China fabrication. They don't seem to have them any more.

Have you checked the dates on those issues?
I will, that's kind of another reason I posted this, I knew someone would not only recommend something similar, but also give a little insight on Eden as well. Thanks.

I have an 800A, which will go used for considerably less than the current new model.

it will only bridge into 800w at 8ohms, but I think most would only need the 800 if you were going to be using it with 2 cabs. If you are running just 1 cab a 500 would probably be enough for all but the loudest gigs.

I use my 800 with 2 acme low b2's or a couple of swr (eden made) 210's and it absolutely kills, more headroom then I have ever needed and I have played in some pretty loud rock bands

Bought it used about 4 years ago and zero issues with it

I think the key is just finding one from the right era. Fortunately, the "flagship" Eden products seem to have changed very little, in terms of features and specs, over the years -- even though the ownership/management has changed quite a bit. As someone suggested above, I don't think there have been any consistent issues with the 800A-era amps, for example.

Then again, I got my 550B brand new in 2007, which I believe was right toward the beginning of Eden really starting to get bashed consistently. Maybe I got lucky, but that amp was an absolute horse for me. It sounded great and never gave me any problems at all. I eventually got rid of it just because my tastes changed a bit and I wanted to experiment with subtle overdrive (ended up with an Aguilar AG500).

To answer your question differently, the closest I've ever come across to the Eden tone profile is probably SWR. I never hear much about them these days, but those old SM-series amps were pretty Eden-y to my ears.

I liked the sound I heard on videos for that ag500 as well, curious if you can even find them now, didn't have much luck just now other than eBay. Wonder what kind of support I would have from them.

I love the AG500, but it definitely doesn't sound like my Eden did. Still, I definitely recommend it if you like it.

Everyone seems to love Aguilar at the moment, and I've only heard good things about their support. I haven't had any issues with mine, but I did have to reach out to them to get rack ears and they responded promptly. If you don't need the second channel, I'd try to find an AG500SC for a bit cheaper.

are you just looking for something different? I have a wt800-C, zero issues...it isn't fashionably light, but i can't imagine needing another amp...with the stereo power amps and being able to be bridged at 1100W into 4 ohms, and each side being stable at 2 ohms, I cant think of a very much more versatile platform in terms of power, configuration or EQ...I was going to sell, but came to my senses and took it off the block...just looking for another flavor of awesome is as good a reason as any to switch, but the 800 is rock solid...good luck, boss

I use a WT800C (circa 2008 USA) quite often and have had zero issues. I've also had a WT800A, WT500, WT400 and a Metro combo all from the late '90's and never had an issue with any of them. Still have the WT400 too and use it regularly as well.
As with anything used, there is always a slight risk. I've bought a few of them without even trying them first and always been rewarded with great experiences.
It's normal that you'll find the bad experiences easily in this day and age of media as the unhappy people get pretty vocal but I'd bet that's a small minority from a particular run of product that happened quite a few years ago. Same thing still happens today with certain other makers models.

If you dig the Eden tone, I wouldn't hesitate in getting one IMO, and IME. I might sound a bit biased  but there's tons of good ones out there and with the advent of lighter amps, they can be had pretty reasonably.

Happy hunting.

Also I've read the smaller models fans are too loud, what about the wt800s fan?

With my wt800 I'm driving 2, 4 ohm acme's, and we play kinda loud sometimes. When we end a song the fan is noticeable in the room but I can never hear it when playing. If I play low enough that the fan noise would be an issue the amp doesn't get hot enough for the fan to come on.
