Effects for Christmas

Looking to get a couple effects pedals for Christmas. I'm guessing 2 or so to play around with would be good. Any have any of their favorites they could suggest. I think I want some fuzz, and maybe an envelope filter (auto wah?).

Name a couple you think I should get, then name your faves. I'd like to buy and try some out, so if you have some good ones for a good price, let me know. My girl is searching for some Christmas gifts for me, so I'm suggesting pedals.

Nothing too expensive please, we have a limit this year...stupid economy.

Just get a Boss GT-10B, every effect you could need all in one box.
Why limit youself to one fuzz pedal when something like this has a selection of 12 different distortion pdal types.
Also 3 seperate wha's (can be used at the same time) each with different pedal types and custom settings to choose from.

Get an Analog Man Chorus with the Deep Switch - maybe the Stereo Option and then you can be amazed at how it good sounds on the right Song.

I'd go for EHX Bass Big Muff and Digitech Bass Synth Wah if it was my decision .

However, if you aren't sure which effects you like or want, a multi-effects unit is the way to go. Get familiar with the general sounds and effects and expand from there.

I would start off by building a base of cheap but reliable or good effects that you shouldn't get rid of, even when getting into more pricey options. Use them to experiment with, and to see if they are "your thing". Some of these would be:
