The simple solutions tend to sound best! It took me a rack full of gear, a bunch of active basses, coaxial speakers, and many pedals before I realized I just wanted a passive bass into a great amp and cabinet.

Yeah, i used to use a whole load of pedals and a Sansamp preamp. when i got my travis bean (before i had a Matamp)i did not need a preamp and a many pedals.

the egc is the bean on speed so it's got more bottom and volume so again i don't need pedals to change my true tone. I do use a bass synth as a fuzz and a pork loin for a light boost but again it's not changing my true EGC tone.

Less is more after you upgrade

I also got a rusty box a couple of years ago. Works well if you only want to sound like weston with no bottom.
I do like them but they take away bottom end from your amp and hide the real tone of a bean/egc. they are good for a p bass into a solid state head but if you have a EGC then why hide it with a preamp.

Hey guys !

I'm really considering an EGC but I'm wondering some things.

I saw various bass shapes other than the standard shapes they make, can any shape be made ? Or are just the standard ones on order ?
Also, for those of you who ordered it, how much did the powdered coating set you back ?
I had a plexiglass Ampeg bass but parted with it because it sounded really dull to me but it seems like it's not the case with aluminium at all, can you confirm ?

And, last but not least, how long did it take for you to get your bass ?

He'll make just about anything in terms of shape, I originally asked for an RD style bass but ultimately decided that it would be too neck heavy. Definitely not dull, not in the least. I can't help ya with the powder coat. After it was all said and done I think it took about 26 weeks, so about 6 months.

Recorded bass for our full length yesterday. Brought my Ric but never pulled it out of its case. Also ended up not using any of my dirt pedals. EGC into my Orange TB, ran a direct from the TB and also mic'd my Dually. Solo'd the bridge pickup for the grindy aggressive rock tracks, ran both pickups on full for the more sludge/metal stuff.

Got some really good tones. Love how I can go from almost pbass mellow with a very light tough to super grindy and aggressive by simply digging in.

Amo deal with the egc. the ampeg plexi basses are so bad but look cool. for the plexi and wood basses EGC keep the neck seperete so the neck is not dampened. You only need to put down a 30 percent deposit to get it started then 6 months to save up the rest.
