I've had a Sub'N'Up on my board for a couple of years now and I still really like it. It tracks really well, way better than the Aguilar it replaced. The sound is very useful. I like having the choice between classic and poly. It's easy to tweak and the toneprint is a nice bonus. It took a bit of abuse and it holds up very well. Mine's not going anywhere.

I use a taiwan oc2, according to the serial number it is from March 1998 and the follow-up is fine ... can someone tell me where this neurosis comes from due to the follow-up of the octavers? I had several oc2 and oc3, pog, octamizer, etc, and none were so bad following as to stop using them for that reason. With that said, did someone take the time to connect all these octavers to a pc and record exactly how many milliseconds are these famous delays?

I’ve decided to go with a digital octave to get a different sound from what I get out of my EHX Octave Multiplexer. I’ve ruled out an OC-2 because Im going for the more hifi type of sound, with an hint of higher octave. I’ll keep the Multiplexer and it will be on and off the pedalboard depending on my needs, really.

I’m asking about latency or lag for 2 reasons:
1. I’ve recently and very briefly had a Joyo XVI and the latency was worst that I could imagine! I couldn’t play, too distracted (and the low octave sounded terrible to me). I want to avoid such an experience.
2. I read (probably the same as you) many complaints of either pedals about some lag or latency.

I had the Mooer mk1 and regret selling it simply for the foot print.

But I mainly sold it because the octave up was excellent on Digitech’s Ricochet. It’s still the best octave up I’ve tried. I finally A-B-C between the Pog, Pitch Fork, and Ricochet. Octave up on Ricochet was the best. It handles chords so clearly with zero glitching.

For octave down, the POG had beef to it. But my favorites are OC2/OC5 and Source Audio’s Spectrum. Spectrum doesn’t glitch no matter where I play.

If you want one that does both, I recommend Pog or Ricochet.

Analog octavers don't have much if any delay. The OC2 fits into this category. Latency tends to only be a factor in the digital realm.

Ok, so I thought I’d post this…

I went trying pedals…

2 of them…

A Nano POG. My conclusion: the lower octave is exactly the same that on the EHX Canyon in octave mode… the higher octave… is more shiny and bright, but with the setting I like, the Nano POG gives me the exact same sound as my EHX Canyon in octave mode with the delay time and feedback at 0. No improvement to my ears. And the Canyon is cheaper then the Pog for all you deal spotters…

The other was a TC Sub’n’up mini. I didn’t like the way the lower octave sounded. I’d prefer a punchier tone. Still looking…

I start to wonder if it’s worth the shot to try a little Hotone Harmony… they are cute…
