Double Bass Electric Upright Bass Recommendations

The battery lasted a long time when I had a Stagg, weeks for sure with many hours of use. Most people who have battery problems don't realize that plugging in the cable jack turns on the preamp and runs the battery down whether the instrument is being played or not. I always used good quality batteries and never had any problems if I checked the voltage occasionally. I did run one battery down and found out what voltage the preamp dies at and used that as a reference point.
I know other owners have had short battery life due to electrical problems in the instrument but I had no problems. At gigs I always had a fresh battery in my pocket and ready to use if I needed it.

Thank you!

With your budget I would strongly recommend looking into second-hand instruments. For that sort of price there are some really good ones out there. Personally I would prefer a used NXT over a new WAV. If you buy new you will need to compromise somewhere (and I'm afraid that's quality), if you buy a used instrument not so much.

I had a Stagg for a while but couldn't get enough relief in the fingerboard to stop the strings buzzing. I cured the end pin rattle with a piece of plastic tubing

Rather than put money into by having the fingerboard planed and decent strings I bought a UK made EUB (Link Removed), a decision I have not regretted.

I took your advice and found a used NXTa online at about half the price of a new one.
I'll know when it gets here if I got a deal. Fairly reputable dealer, so here's hoping. I can always upgrade it later.
Thanks!
