Poor guy, if it's anything like their other compressors it's not gonna be a fun one for him.

Do guys find it funny that an international bassist, who is a trained studio engineer uses on live?
He has even said on occasion something like "it's noisy and old but I miss it every time I don't use it"
Even those well versed in quality gear fall in love with stuff that most would find subpar. They call it character.
EHX would clean house if they would focus on releasing great pedals for a little more $ than a bunch of meh stuff for low money.
I think a range of boutique EHX pedals to go along with their cheaper range would work out well, I do like seeing pedals around $100 when I walk into a music shop, other than boss it's a rare treat.

I love and regularly recommend the DOD FX25, even though it is terribly flawed and poorly built. It's still the best sounding filter I've tried, at any price point. And one of the best sounding compressors I've ever used (ADK CLA-1) was also rather noisy--and I mention in my review how I loved it in spite of the noise.
One of Tony Levin's favorite comps is one that I did not like so well. Almost every day this one TB'er posts about his favorite the Boss CS-2 and how it's the secret weapon of his favorite celebrity bassist, even though the CS-2 is actually not great by most standards.
Open up any thread about "audiophile cables" and you will find scads of people swearing that because X artist endorses a particular one, it must truly be all that is claimed.

Hello from "vocal fry dude." I'm glad I'm not the only one who dislikes the sound of my voice.
The Bass Preacher is pretty simple, not trying to re-invent the wheel or anything. It's essentially a modified Soul Preacher. The compressor is much less sensitive compared to the Soul Preacher, for an actually usable range for the Sustain knob (the Soul Preacher is just barely usable on bass with Sustain at minimum). The attack and release of the compressor are also tweaked to work better on bass, and the pedal is much less noisy than the Soul Preacher. It's designed to be a decently transparent effect, less of an "effect" per say but more of the kind of thing you'd leave on all of the time to level out/beef up your notes. Not surprised that it's hard to hear on a YouTube video (especially depending on the speakers you're listening to it on), but I'd recommend trying one out at your local store to see if you like what it does to your bass sound.
Cool. Yes, lose the vocal fry man. That's one thing your generation does that is absolutely infuriating. I never understood why people talk like this because not only is it annoying as hell to those of us who have to listen to it, it's also haorrible for your voice. Other than that, I'll eventually get around to checking out the pedal.
Lol. While I am serious about the vocal fry, I'm probably being a little too harsh on you. But I would suggest you listen to your peers because you'll hopefully start to pcik up on the fact that the millenials pretty much all talk like this and it is not natural. Look up the term "vocal fry." It's a national phenomenon/anomaly and IT NEEDS TO END NOW!!!!!!
