Sounds like my band is one of the few that endorses the use of bass effects. Both bands, actually!

I'm even encouraged to use them in some bands, others however...
Here goes, what I've been using includes:

Modulus FBJ5 with Yamaha Midi pickup running virtual synths on my Mac laptop, then the bass signal is sent through bassbone, EBS multicomp, Octavius Squeezer, EBS Octabass, WhammyII, Juicebox, Really old Yamaha Flanger(it self oscilates!), Old Ibanez modulation delay, Loop Station, Bass balls, Digitech talker, George Dennis Wah/vol.
I just ordered an xp1000 too!
I've also been trialing using sooper looper on the laptop.
I've got an SWR MO' Bass, but find my boogie M2000 sounds better (wish it had the fx of the MO').

Any ideas on ducking/dynamic delays that aren't ridiculously priced?

Also cabs are always fun... I'd love to have just one cab that I can move, and is full range, and cheap, and cures cancer, and... any suggestions?

If clips become available, I'll post them. Right now I'm just trying to temper my enthusiasm. We've had a couple jam sessions that were really promising and everyone seems to be onboard and encouraged by how we sound early on, but I'm sure everyone here knows what it's like to try and get a new band off the ground.

I'm hoping it works out though because I haven't been this excited about a music project in years.

New project, 3 piece with Vdrums, guitar/keyboardist, and myself. Lots of effects and looping. In the arena of Dub, drum n bass, jazzy electronica, etc.

We played late tonight so we just went direct and through headphones- and recorded practice- We were all blown away hearing it played back! Anyway I'm really stoked and just bubbling right now hehe, hopefully I'll have something to post soon, as we already have a few ready to record... hell I'll probably post a little clip of practice once I get my hands on a copy

As far as bands not endorsing pedalboards... mine love it, and that's what got me the gig. I have a feeling many of the people in this thread are doing just fine as well.

My last band gig loved my pedalboard. They liked that I could recreate basically any effect in any song we covered. Plus, I had my HOG + distortion + guitar amp "rhythm guitarist" setup as well, so my guitard could solo till his little heart's content without the sound thinning out. And we all know that all guitards want to do is wank off all night

I as well am trying to get a new gig off the ground. Just a two-piece, with me on bass + effects, and my buddy Jarod on synths. We made a couple songs a year ago, then had to take about a year off. Now, we're starting to get serious again, and damn I hope it sticks this time, because we have some incredible ideas

I may just need to join in here. I've had a Line6 filter pedal for a while and haven't been in love with it. I've been playing with some features more lately and I'm starting to like more as I understand it better. I also just added a MXR Blow Torch to the mix and the combo of the two (including the expression pedal on the Line6) is glorious. I'm working to get sounds and I'll try to post up clips

seems cool. probably wouldnt buy one though

ive found that mixing any riff from any song, running it through my synth wah on mode one and then into my pd7 makes it sound completely different. then just making variations of that riff make it amazing

Nice. Sounds fantastic - not just the bass tone, I dig the whole jam.

In fact, these threads (Show Your dub/experimental band and this one) are really what has rekindled my interest in this forum after dropping off quite a bit before that.

As for your signal chain, I'm guessing Octavius Squeezer for sure. Is there a phaser set slow (MXR Phase 90)?

I'm looking for something to make ambiental sounds if that makes sense... maybe some phaser or the Moog Freq Box I don't know for sure but feel free to suggest

I've got the full set of Moogerfoogers, a Little Phatty, and I'm eagerly anticipating the new Roland AX-Synth. I'm also going to start using my laptop for effects (as well as synths, samples, loops, and drums) and my guitarist is going to get one as well, so we can MIDI sync and screw with each others sounds remotely. I'd definitely call my music "experimental"

i would get something to modulate those sounds, like a flanger, chorus or a tremolo... tc nova modulator comes to mind

Those plus a phaser and lots of delay should do it.
