Electronic/Synth/Experimental Bassists Club

Big O,
Why didn't the OS make it on the new board?

Honestly? Because it just had too much going on. I think somebody with a clearer idea of what they want will get a lot more mileage out of it than I did. Like rottenramone creating sounds in Reason(?) and then twiddling with the OS to replicate that sound. For me it just had too many options.

Same thing with the Empress Superdelay and the Tremolo. The Tremolo was actually the hardest pedal to part with of the ones I've sold so far. But both were overkill for me.

I've just come to realize that I'm better off with a more limited palette and finding ways to get as much as I can out of more simple effects.

Can I get on in up some with this club? I know it said no cutting in line but I'll take #666 if you don't mind me jumping forward a bit (I won't cut and paste myself in unless I get the okay :D ).

My main band loves my pedals. Sometimes I just bring one dirt box with me if I don't feel like lugging the whole board to practice, and someone always sounds disappointed that I won't be making any weird(er) sounds that day. Even the Noise Box gets a warm welcome, although I use it sparingly. I use effects here when appropriate, which means that many songs go completely clean, but others will have varying degrees of fuzz, delay, phaser, etc. when needed. Link Removed

My other band seems to enjoy them, and since we're an improvisational act with an e'er revolving lineup (currently with 1 drummer, 2 bassists, and 2 guitarists), I can get pretty wild with them and it is just par for the course. The one guitarist has some multi-fx board and flies all over the place with many different tones. He lost all his patches last week though, a problem I never have since I use individual boxes. :D Link Removed

My currently active solo project would not exist without my board, as this is where I go completely nuts with whatever I can. I usually spend more time playing the effects themselves instead of actually playing the bass, but I don't really have any rules for this crap so one time I had two basses plugged into the board, playing one normally while strumming open strings using my foot on the other, triggering a ring modulator. To be honest to me it's a direct replacement for two of my pedals (Korg G5, Pulse Synth) because it'll do all the things I ever used them for (Sawtooths, PWM, laser weapon modulation FX on a momentary stomp), plus it's a programmable filter. Those things alone justify the price to me.

Anything over that is gravy.

Just adding myself in there at #69. Also I've figured out a way to get a small sample of the EHX BMS blended with the Moogerfooger lowpass filter.

I'm playing a Warwick Corvette $$ 5 string through an Ampeg BSP-SVP preamp. This is a split channel pre. For the first part of the song you can hear what my clean channel sounds like. Then at 2:58 you can hear what my overdrive "dirty" channel sounds like as a reference. (I run my FX loop through this channel). Then at 3:12 I kick in the the EHX BMS blended with the Moogerfooger lowpass filter. Then you can hear it again at 3:39 until the end of the song.

Just poking my head in saying hello. This was an inspiring thread. I don't have the gear for it yet, but am planning on getting a few things in the coming weeks for a new project. Check my profile for current gear.

I want to start out with a Boss SYB-5 run through a Moog Bass MuRF and probably build up a moogerfooger board overtime. I'm thinking of picking up a MicroKorg as well.

I've been seriously gasin for a Little Phatty II since I joined Link Removed.

I'm no longer part of that band because they were happy with the sound they had and the drummer and I wanted to move into a heavier synth direction D'n'B direction so we split and are starting this new project....in it's infancy. We will have a live drummer and guitars and I'll be switching between bass and keys as well as the guitarist switching to keys ocasionally. I think the guitar (former drummer) will have a MicroKorg as well so we can bounce ideas of each other and have a sort of dual thing goin on and also help with the learning curve.

At any rate I'm definitely looking for encouragement, criticism and help along the way. I also wanted to give props to all the tasty stuff in this thread....rnilson and rcubed have some great stuff on their MySpaces. Any suggested listening? I'm definitely a big fan of Lake Trout who are more organic/less synthy but dancy and experimental (Check out Alone at Last Lake Trout w/ DJ Who, and Volume for the Rest of it to see my inspiration).

If nobody else wants it I'll take the apparently dreaded #32...
Got a EHX bass microsynth and a blue box.
And I'll be playing some synth for my current band as well. Mostly older synths.
Will be getting a Roland RS-09 by the end of this month (hopefully) and will use some other synth strings and synth bass also.

I'm in. I wrote you in at #32 Mads and I'll take #35.

I just picked up a MicroKorg and am really diggin it. Haven't even scratched the surface yet.

I'm looking forward to discovering how to use it in a live setting with my band while still devoting time to my bass.

The MicroKorg is really fun with the ToadWorks Redux. I'll get some noise clips up soon.

The arpeggiator is tons of fun and there are lots of great square and saw wave models. All sorts of airy orchestral sounds, as well as some organ models.

Next step....BMS...I think.

Vb-99 + macbook(and v-bass + g50 before that;))
.....count me in...

I'm in.
EHX POG > EHX MicroSynth > 20 plus dirt, envelopes, phasers, flangers and chorus.
I won't stop adding effects until I need an electrician add another circuit in my home to drive those darned wall warts!

I also like plugging straight into the amp from time to time. :hiding:
