Double Bass Electronic Tuners

Okay, I admit it. I sold my $80 Stroboclip and am now using the $13 Snark. The display is brilliant (in more than one way :)).

The Fishman is nice - showed up here today. Nice to be able to switch between instrument-specific mode where the strings show up by number, and chromatic mode, where the note being played shows.

Waiting for the Snark to get here.

I believe the Fishman is one of the dreaded color-change tuners discussed earlier. I've found those to be as (or more) annoying as others did.

Steve-- I look forward to the results of your comparions. Thanks for doing this! For now, my search is over. The [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] is it for me.

Vibration or mic mode, metronome, great display, accurate, locks on to all strings easily, rubber (vinyl, whatever...) coated... all for less than $15. :)

The Snark SN-2 - fine as a tuner so far but its appearance reminds me of a cartoon. Certainly it's not what I'd call classy looking. :)

For guitars, I still like the Planet Waves - black, unobstrusive.

I'm not sure I can see myself leaving the Snark on my upright, but I will continue to play around with everything here. The price is definitely right for the Snark - was $12 or so, and since I ordered 3 of them, I got free shipping from amazon.com - can't beat that. Right now, the Fishman is on the upright and that will get the test over the next week or month or two.

I use the Snark SN-2 to tune quickly and accurately. Then I take it off. I'm impressed with it for its function, aesthetics being pretty far down the list-- although I don't think it looks bad at all. I wouldn't leave any tuner clipped to my bridge.

I have both models of the Sonic Research Tuners. Very well built and far easier to work with than the Petersons I 've owned. True stroble tuners.

Kinda hard to clip those on to tune in noisy environments. No? :)

I've been finding lately that sometimes the climate is so different between my home, my car, and where I'm playing that I need to tune several times, especially when I get to where I have to play shortly before I have to start playing. Our house has a humidifier, is air-conditioned, and is generally a pretty bass-friendly environment - but the car isn't, and then most places in the winter aren't humidified so there's sometimes weirdness as the bass dries out.

I had my Sabine 3000 on my bridge for a month or two without taking it off - I kinda liked having it there because I'd check/adjust my tuning more often that way.
