I've owned some great SS amps over the years. The 1st one I bought was a Kustom 200 with a 2x15 CTS all black rolled and pleated. I loved that amp, it was stolen. I used an Acoustic 360 for a while with the single 18" in a folded horn. Very powerful rig but just too big. I used a Peavey Mark IV for a long time with a Sunn Sorado 2x15 EVL cab. I still have the cab but the amp died a few years back. Right now I'm using Ampeg pf-500 that I just got. So now it is my favorite SS amp. But I really did love that Kustom 200.

1969 Kustom with Altec 421A's.Bought from a guy who had never taken out of his since'69 4 hrs of total playing time.Sounds real good but stays at home.I gig with WA Scout 1x15 combo and a TL 1x12 Deltalite on top,incredible....no more gas

Okay, we've named every amp known to man and I can't improve upon that. However...

The worst SS amp I ever owned was my first good amp: Sunn Beta Bass circa 1979. IIRC, the now discontinued Monolith Magma preamp was based on that platform. Lord, I hope it was a vast improvement over the original! If you own one, please chime in.

That's high praise from a man who plays a Walter Woods Ultra. I still love my GMT rig. Does your rehearsal spot have both the head and matching cab? I've seen quite a few of the heads over the years, but I have only seen two of these matching 4x12 cabs - I have one and TB'er bottomend! has the other.

As I pointed out in another thread, this is the same model amp Carl Radle chose over his Acoustic 360/361 rig. He played them from 1972 to around 1976, when he went to an all Musicman rig. I think it sounds just right.

Nope, no matching cabinet. He's got a 212 Bassman cabinet which seems like a good match, too. It fills a lot of space without needing to be really loud.

I can't really play as my amplifiers all have a tube in the signal path. The only completely SS amp I own is one I built in the early Eighties. A pre-amp feeding a 200W per channel stereo power amp. it all worked flawlessly since the day I first powered it up on my kitchen table. it's still part of my practice system.

I agree completely on all counts, but of late my favorite all solid state amp is the TecAmp Puma 900.
The Genz Benz Shuttles score high as well.
