Enough Tubes. Let's Talk Solid State! Name Your Favorites and Why?

Traynor SB115. Only because it's what I've got.
OTOH I bought it because of its sound, solid build, 200 watt power, 15" speaker and weighs 31 lbs.
Great for an old guy like me to maneuver, especially with the castors I added.
It seems that everyone who gets one of these speaks very highly of it. Traynor got just the right mojo working on this combo. It is amazing!

If nobody has said it yet, either the Traynor SB200H or the 500H.....tons of power, great tones, light weight, built like tanks with Traynor rep, Made in Canada, a few more features than the GK's and better priced.....ye cain't go wrong IMHO

Amen. I own and absolutely love both. The SB200H - 1.5lbs, no hiss, packs a punch for its size. Great amp for both home & backup!
My SB500H has become my favorite head ever. Plenty of power on tap for the loudest gigs, Traynor build quality - just sounds very good! Every piece of Traynor gear I have used has been amazing in build quality and sound and these two amps are right up there.

The Aguilar DB751 and Eden WT-800 are hybrids, hence I didn't list them with my favorite SS heads.

Dunno about the WT, tho. The tube doesn't really do much (it's got a gain of a little less than 1 in this amp) unless you drive the pants off the thing right at the input jack. In a pinch, I've used a jumper wire in place of the tube in the past, with no audible effect.

Mesa mPulse 600. Plenty of power, warmth/tube grind on tap if/as desired, blendable FX loop, great onboard compression, powerful, detailed eq and glorious lows 'n' mids. Everything i like in 1 nice looking package, made by hand in the USA. Honorable mentions to Mesa Wallkabout, GB Shuttle 3.0 and Shuttle Max 12.

A toss up between my GB Shuttle 6.2, and my MarkBass F500. The MB is a little warmer, but the EQ section on the Shuttle is more versatile. Since they are both so small and light, I take both of them to the gig with me as backup/main amp.

I've always had tubes in my amps prior to this past year (whether they be hybrids or full tube), and was never really happy with any SS heads in comparison. I even bought a PF800 and it still left a little to be desired.

Then I recently acquired a '71 Sunn Coliseum.
That is one has proven to me that solid state amps can rip on a whole other level.

Loud, with an excellent eq section.

GK all the way every day or I don't play! I have a rb700II that iv'e used and abused for years in a 2 guitar metal band and it's performed like a trooper, killer tone and plenty of volume.
and don't even get me started on the littlest giant, I don't know how I ever lived without an MB800 for so long, when I plug that thing into my fearful 1212/6 cab it's like firing off a beautiful cannon blast
I haven't wanted for any other amp since I started using the MB/fearfull combo and I don't see it happening any time soon but I have yet to try an mb fusion simply because I don't feel a need for tubes

Best amp i ever experienced was the Aguilar DB951, it has a perfect poweramp, very dynamic without being too weak in the low end.

After years playing without a Class D amp, i feel the difference between Class AB and Class D, wich is this ratio Dynamic/Punch in the low end.

The Aguilar is precise and powerful, the preamp is a bit dark, it's the only drawback.

The 2 that have made a good impression on me was my Peavey TNT160 American made, great amp lasted me 10 years + only drawback the same size and weight as a washing machine . My favourite now by a long margin my Fender Rumble 200 combo :woot: this small & powerful, great sounding and lightweight combo is just amazing, and for me the vintage push switch is the icing on the cake .
