Envelope filter/follower addict support group

I went for the black version and it looks great. Here 'tis next to my JohnK 00Funk and Codtone Brown Dog

There's a mod to make the Drive and Smooth controls respond smoother, as the originals are a bit uneven. It's not a huge difference, but I like the smooth controls. I played thru it a bunch today, it's really well done.
Thanks, that’s helpful and sounds like a worthwhile mod. Is that something you just requested when you ordered, in addition to the other customization (body paint, knobs, LEDs)?

Also, this seems like a dumb question, but what does the link button do? I saw the explanation on the builder’s site, but how is engaging the link button different from just engaging the two outside foot switches for the fuzz and filter sides?

So there was only half the mod done (the other didn't work out)!but there was also a tweak to the power supply which accounts for the response differences).

All the options that he gave me (and btw he's a helluva nice guy):

Mod/no mod
Faceplate color (black or white)
Knob color and style
Body color (something like 45 options)

I'm not sure if the LED colors are part of the option, he emailed me and said that he found some pink ones and wanted to know if I wanted them ... And like hell yeah, how could I not?!?!?!

The link button changes the responses of the EF and fuzz - it's the difference between putting them inside a serial chain (fuzz then ef) or like putting a fuzz pedal in the effects loop of the EF.

Very cool! How does the FP sound compare to the other clones?
I had Ben from Codtone clone my OG Chunk Systems Brown Dog a few years back, so I know his version sounds exactly the same as the original, which is a good starting point. I haven't owned an OG 00Funk, but I would trust that JohnK's version is a faithful reproduction, and I've always loved how well it pairs with the Codtone fuzz.

Between the Funky Puppy and the clone pair, the sounds of the fuzz and filter circuits, both independently and combined, are really, really, really close. The controls are in completely different layouts on the enclosure faces, which makes it confusing to make quick comparative changes on the fly, but having said that, and while the knob positions can vary slightly to cop the same tones, the same sounds are 99% there. The 00Funk circuit is especially known for being finicky to dial in, so the chicken head knobs and setting markers on the faceplate of the FP are really helpful in that regard. The link footswitch is also cool, because even though the 'linked' sound is the chewiest and probably my favourite fuzz/filter combo ever, you can get a different flavour of fuzzy envelope sounds when you 'unlink' and that might be the sound you are looking for. Unlinking also means you can use the filter side independent of the fuzz, so you can use it on your clean sound or combine it with other pedals, which is a pretty big advantage over the clone combo, or the originals for that matter.

To me, the key to playing these circuits together is paying attention to touch sensitivity and the weight of your fingers on the strings. There is a world of sonic expression to explore between the lightest muted finger touch and a solid pluck, and the secret is to dial in that sweet spot on the controls and then play around in that zone between the extremes. I honestly would be happy with either, but at the end of the day, the sounds, the link footswitch, the settings markers, the availability and the simplicity of having both circuits in the one enclosure really make the FP a no brainer IMO

Apparently you're not the only one, FP now shows all colors as sold out on the builder's site. FWIW, there's also a message that shipping to U.S. is currently unavailable. Good thing I'm not in a rush

I'm not surprised that it's sold out - I mean, it's a killer pedal.

Also, he mentioned that he (and I'm assuming Australia Post) paused shopping to figure the whole tariff thing out.

Not political, just relating facts.

I'm digging this Q Tron. I've never used one before and as much as I like funky, I'm not funky in any way shape or form. lol This is helping me fake it. lol

Great little board! I'm sure we've discussed it before, but those CMC Bubble Fonts are excellent pedals. (And I am funky in some ways. That's all the details you'll get for now.)

Yeah I'm sold on the Bubble Font muff. It's so thick and chunky and it stays really tight whether I'm using a pick or my fingers. I really dig it.

So I have played around with the Ladder Filter in the Source Audio Artifakt, which is basically a Moog clone. Really like the sound, it can get really dripping wet and also dirty once you dial in the distortion. It's not the easiest to dial in though, with the SA typical multifunction knobs on the pedal, or the function overload in the editor. Considering trying the PastFX pedal, as the controls are probably a little more intuitive.

I've also played around with the Proton mk4. It sounds good, but I find it a little too tame. It's a good "play it safe" pedal, and it's hard to dial in unusable tones, but sometimes I just want a little more nastiness. Will probably sell it on.

My favorite pedal at this point is probably still the Source Audio Spectrum. It can cover such a wide variety of sounds, distortion and octaver included, and it does them well.

I always felt 3leaf's envelope filters were on the tamer side...my opinion. Nothing wrong with that, they all sound great...envelope filters are pizzas.
