I caved to peer pressure and ordered a Sweeper.

And then there's Simple Sam ... For that price it might be worth picking up for curiousiyy sake!!

Let me know what you think and if you get a Schwepa that too, I might "need to" add it to my collection of Bass Balls styled pedals.
Not that I really need another BB after getting the one and only Bass Balls+. 🤷‍♂️ ☮️

I am getting very close to covering the sound and feel on the SA platform on C4 and Spectrum, that adds octaver as well as the host of blendable dirties.

yeah for $40 all in, I picked up a Schwepa Balls. Supposedly a Moen under the covers, so we'll see.

I wonder if Schwepa Balls is anything like Schweddy Balls ...

Recently tried The Funky Puppy in my full setup and it's so dirty and nasty. If you want your filter rude, this one's for you! I also really dug the fuzz on its own with an octave before it.
I just received mine and I love it. I also have a Proton Mk4, Joshwah, Analogman EF, Xerograph Deluxe, and Fwonkbeta. The Funky Puppy and the Fwonk are staying for sure. I'll probably pass the others on, although they are all very good filters.

I really need to try out this Fwonkbeta. I decided to pass on the recent Proton drop, and there's a Wonderlove on Reverb that won't quit giving me the eye, but I keep seeing people rate the Fwonk above some highly praised filters. I just tried to do a little research on the Wonderlove on TB, and every thread i found had someone givin up the Fwonk. Choices, choices, choices...

Not filter related per se, but I've been experimenting with a little dirt before the filters, and those angels at Guitar Center thought a gently used Microtubes X was only worth $150. So far those "Darkglass frequencies" are translating well to resonant bumps.

It's a riot. Takes dirt really well too. There's at least one good demo on YouTube. I do recommend a compressor/limiter afterwards though as it throws off some crazy peaks that could damage your speakers.

Can't go wrong with the Fwonk or Wonderlove.

I recently got the robotalk 2 and spatial delivery, both are great but I originally thought the robotalk was broken since I got it used. It turns out it is input boost sensitive and needs more decibels pushed earlier in the chain before it in order for the envelope to open. The controls are a little finicky too but the voice of the pedal is insane, both the spatial delivery and robotalk are great tho.

I've wanted to try this one for awhile. I'm curious if it's any different than running two separate filters, or if there is some magic interplay between the two ...

The Death By Audio Deep Animation came, and it's very cool - it's definitely a fuzz filter for sure, but it's got some great potential. The Moeor Sweeper arrived as well, and as promised, it's a cool little pedal. THe Sam Schwepa is on it's way it will be interesting to compare the two!

I also picked up a Collision Devices TARS DLX - while not an envelope filter per se, it's a fuzz with a variable LPF and HPF and I'm able to get an EF out of it using my Fairfield Conflict of Interest. Alas, it was damaged in shipment so I need to wait on that, but man does it have potential!

on the envelope phaser front (still planning on starting a seperate thread), I picked up a KMA HorizonT envelope phaser - it seems like it's a cross between the Billy Strings Wombtone and the Pigtronix EP-2 in terms of capabilities, with some features not found in either. I totally dig both of them, so I'm looking FWD to getting it.

From an EP side, I'm still interested in checking out the Seymour Duncan Polaron - any users here? And the Way Huge Small's Attack Vector (combines EF and EP). I was also clued into the Caitlinbread Many Worlds - which looks like it might be a good portable EP.

I'm also trying out more filtered fuzzes .. more to come on that as well!

Of course, sound samples of all of the above (and more) at some point soon!

Also, a little rant -

Why can't pedal manufacturers just use standard power supplies? And more to the point, why didn't I pick up a needed power supply prior to arrival?

Looking at you, Funk a Duck/Frostwave!

@Maxi Funkl - you have the Polaron - correct? What's the skinny? Still digging it? Have you tried any other EPs, and if so how does it compare?

Inquiring minds want to know!
Its not going anywhere analog and digital in one device plus preset and so much more. My phaser journey is short many years ago had MXR 90 forever ago.

Once I got back into Pedals in summer 2022 my 1st was a TC Electronic Blood Moon. Cheap kinda big but was a good pedal I still have it. Then I tried Source Audio Lunar great pedal versatile but I hate menu diving. I still have it. Next was SD Polaron man its a funk machine capable of every type of Phaser sound I wanted to try and then some. I'm sure there's many more tones in it, that I haven’t tried I'd dig. It replaced the Lunar which went on my Gig board until I bought the Broughton Audio Carina a 6 stage phaser I highly recommend if someone wants a non traditional phaser but still has traditional tone 125b footprint top jacks what's not to love. LOL its still on my Gig board not looking to replace it.

Since you like pedals you can deep dive into and get tons of possibilities from without menu diving and pedal size seems never to deter you. Give it a try I'd be shocked if you didn't enjoy it. Might not be the last Phaser you try but it deserves a good once over. I'd be curious how it compares to Iron Ether's Phaser.

Okay I really hate how this algorithm works haven't got an alert to this thread in forever. Anyway I digress.
I need next Evenlope Filter to try recommendations SupaFunk is the pedal I'm looking to replace requirements 125b top jacks pedalboard real estate is tight.
Mu-Tron IV was my 1st thought since I've never actually tried one. 3LEAF to pricey. Josh Wah is on my Gig board. MXR never could bond with it.

What's out there I should look at that I've mostly forgotten about or just flat out knowing nothing about.

man, I am so easily persuaded :-) I'll be picking one up after I move a few things here ....

Really depends on what you're looking for! If you're looking to nail that MuTron tone, it's gonna be the MuTron IV all the way - aside from the TruTron (unobtanium ... at least for realistic $$$) and the OG Mutron, it's my absolute favorite MuTron-like envelope filter. It's a helluva lot of fun as well!

If you're looking for more features and coolness, my second recommendation would be a Meatball type clone - of which the Artisanal Effects Meathead is the current champ. That being said, for pure filter goodness you can't beat the 3 Leaf's that are "based" off the Meatball - namely the Groove Regulator, GR2, and Wonderlove/Wonderlove DLX. The Wonderlove DLX and GR are rarer and more expensive than the Groove Regulator and Wonderlove v1, but worth it. Amazingly enough, the OG Groove regulator and Wonderlove v1 are popping up for "reasonable" prices nowadays - and by reasonable, anywhere from $200-$300 (the DLX seems to go for $500 at a minimum, and I can't remember the last time I saw a GR2 for sale). I think there might be one in the classifieds right now, in fact.

Best of luck!

As usual good information have to look up the meatball know nothing about it.

100% affiliated, I have a GR for sale in the classifieds.

After finally getting a working power supply, I gotta say I'm totally digging the Funk a Duck. It's super responsive and just plain cool - definitely does NOT fall in to the MuTron clone camp. I wanna say that I read somewhere (here, probably) that it's kinda like the Chunk Systems Agent Funk, and I don't disagree. The Funk a Duck is more ... out there, tho, for lack of a better term. Very cool, and just what an envelope filter addict needs!

I can see this one quickly becoming one of my faves.

The Death By Audio Deep Animation is probably the simplest fuzz-envelope filter that I've ever used :-) it gets pretty gnarly and heavy, and it's surprisingly flexible - the frequency selector has much more to it than what I thought and this also makes a great dirt box with the filter off. I mean, a FANTASTIC dirt box - it might be worth keeping just for that. It also sounds great with a second EF or an EP.

ONce the Sam Schwepa shows up, I'll get recordings done with the above and the Mooer sweep, and I'll include some direct comparisons to the Sam and Mooer. I plan on using the TARS DLX as an envelope fuzz filter, so I'm itching for that to get back to me. The filters are very musical, and pairs so well with an EP.

Speaking of envelope phasers, I started the envelope phaser addict's group here - https://www.talkbass.com/threads/en...roup-nothing-phases-us.1679987/#post-29353186.

Check it out if you're into it!

I mean, I'm running out of envelope filters to try, and what's an addict to do but find a new drug!

The Mooer Sweeper is neat. I haven't taken the time to really figure out how to actually use those tiny knobs, but unfortunately for that pursuit, I recently finally took the time to dig into the Future Impact a little bit, and found a bassballs patch that sounds way meatier than the Sweeper.

Also, at the risk of encouraging further support for the capitalist wheel grinding us all down, Mr Black is running a Black Friday deal for 30% of a chunk of items, Fwonkbeta included. My curiosity will finally be sated in (very roughly) 1-3 business days.

I plan to do some work with my FI to get some Bass Balls sounds going. Of late I have been working with the SA Spectrum and C4 to nail down that unique dual envelope interaction as well as adding octaver and various distortions.

I usually start with the Sweeper with the little dials at 1 o'clock and 11 o'clock and make minor tweaks, the coolness is how the envelope expands and contracts by varying the sensitivity.
