Envelope filter for bass. Users wants and needs

I'm using a micro q-tron at the moment..

it's ok but a few things get on my nerves:

1) it needs a volume knob! the volume boost is so ridiculous that i have to run another pedal after it, just so i can knock the volume down a bit when it's on.

2) I always feel it's not "wet" enough sounding to me?? i just really want to dial in a bit more funky "quack". I still dig the sound for me though, ideally this would stay on the board with the new EF that fulfills my desires..

So i read this thread with interest.. looks like the old maxon AF-9 gets a lot of good reviews for a more "wet" sound? however, looks like it also doesn't have a volume on it, so worried i'm gonna be in the same boat.. any thoughts/experiences? any other pedals you know that sound like they fit the bill?

Just wondering if this mystical perfect dream Env Filter had to be in pedal format ?

I really like this cheap old thing -

Unique design with a few faults, but brilliant in use.

As is the Korg MS-20 synth, much chunkier than any pedal in all probability.

Both have unique qualities to me !

Well I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that my "new" old Ibanez UE303b that I just won on the bay is going to be "the one". It stands a fair chance, if memory serves me, having had one waaayyyyyy back when they were first released. Wet, funky and hopefully controllable with the built in comp/limiter. Who cares if it's noisy!!!!:hiding: Wish me luck!

In answer to the original post -

I'd like something small, with either a good buffer or TB, and with as few knobs as possible - despite owning about 12 pedals I'm not really that techy - I like to find a sound and leave it there rather than twiddle away. I get frustrated with my Meatwad at times as it has loads of great options - which some people would like but I hate it when you 'lose' a sound then struggle to recreate it.

A dream EF would be an exact replica of a Mutron tone wise and knobwise but in a smaller unit.

Ok I've really been thinking about this lately...

I wand a filter with the tonal range of the mooger lpf but with more controls like up/down, output volume, and attack and release times. I want it to have save-able presets and be true bypass. I want it to have a exp outs like the moogers do but have them come on and off line via the preset controls..... Yeah, that's what I really want.

Currently I have a DOD and Moog on one board for their strong points and my general purpose filter is the Chunk 00Funk.

I didn't read the whole thread, but this is pretty much a good starting point for me, but I'd like to add that I don't want the pedal to just "do" the sounds, I want them to do them well, or even beyond well, if that's possible. For instance, if I want wet, I want to get it so wet that it feels like it's spitting at me.
