Actually, it seems to NOT be a shelving control, which is the most common type of bass control on most heads that I'm familiar with (if it is a shelving control, it behaves quite unusually for one). I agree it does work differently than most bass controls. It will add a TON of low end that seems to be centered on the mid bass and high bass areas, versus the more general 'extension' of the deep low end with more standard shelving controls like the Aguilar, Markbass, Glock, Eden, TecAmp, GK, etc., etc. type 'bass' controls.

I agree, if you need big low end fatness, especially in a cab that needs help down there, it's great. If you need to roll deep low end out of your sound in a difficult room...not so much.

+1 The 502 was my 'outdoor' head... wonderful. All that low end extension that seemed unbalanced and resulted in many to describe those heads as 'dark and boomy' disappeared outside, and it just punched and was full and loud as heck set completely flat with the 410UL.

If the EQ would have allowed me to keep that tone indoors, I'd still own it!

i was mistaken earlier...it isnt an ulAP that i want, but it was the japanese market ul 2x10, with the true diagonal layout. i will probabaly just find a regular ul2x10 to match with my 1x12 though.

loving the markbass f-1!!!


pretty excited about the idea of the f-1 pushing the 2x10+1x12 setup and having all of it weigh in at around 70lbs combined....woohooo!!!

You will dig it. The F1 and the UL's is among the best matches I've heard, and I use mine with the 410UL all the time. It has plenty of power to push those cabs, and sounds great pretty much flat.... quick, accurate, transparent, punchy, tight. It's a great match for the rather wide Epi UL voicing! Enjoy!

That would work also! Even though a few of us have posted a bit about the Epi cabs being a touch difficult in difficult rooms, I still totally dig my 410UL. It sounds great in the vast majority of contexts and I've never had it run out of steam, with an honest 500 or so watts pumping into it.

I guess, as I always post when someone is considering Epi cabs at this point, if weight is important, make sure to go used, since the new ones have gotten significantly heavier. The new 410UL still is relatively lightweight, and about the weight of most other Neo 410's (I think 67 pounds or so). However, in a big cab like that, if you need to schlep it up and down stairs, etc., 10 pounds is meaningful. Just IMO there!

i think the mini rig of portability is really what intrigues me, especially after plugging into my ul 1x12 for the first time today with my markbass f-1 and a ash/maple jazz bass and 6 string warwick thumb bass....sounded heavenly with every mixture...i think my gear goal now is to get an ul 2x10 to match the 1x12 and then a 5 string jazz of some sort...leaning in the direction of a ash/maple lakland joe osborn....exciting times in my shoes!

I went to hear my buds in Invalid Link Removed play @ Yoshi's in Oakland earlier this week. Kevin, the bassist, ran through two 1x12' ULs and sounded incredible. I'm a sworn lover of 10" drivers, but every now and then 12's just really do it for me. Definitely something intriguing about a rig of that size!

I've been using the 210 + 112 combination lately and I think the 112 really adds some booty to the 210. The 112 is definitely a good alternative to the larger 115 cabinet. That said, I just picked up a second 112 and will be going the 2 X Ul-112 route. These days I'm doing everything to downsize without negatively affecting the sound.

I've had a woderful time being a member of this club, Gaining valuable info from it's astute members.
As I have now sold my UL212 S2 and am sticking with my 2 x EA NM-410's for the moment, I humbly relinquish my membership number I have worn so proudly.
