Nice work!
I've only had my Rumblekat a week so it's still stock.
I've new strings (GHS Pressurewounds) on the way but so far I haven't found anything that NEEDS changing.
I may go with hipshot lollipop tuners (just because I love that style), and possibly change the volume/tone pots.
The only thing that had me hesitant about getting this was the hofner-style control plate, but at least the Rumblekat one is a lot simpler...still, I'd have been happier without any plate at all, just the control knobs sitting on the wood.

What string gauge would you recommend for this bass?

All those mods and you didn't change the most important thing (IMHO), the three-point bridge. The Hipshot replacement is transformational. It turns the Woody into a fine instrument. Fully adjustable saddles.

I have GHS pressurewounds. I think they are 40-96...

And to change these you just go the old "cloth under the knob" method or no? Every knob is different so I'm not sure.

They come with brass sleeves that you put on first

I like TI flats or Labella Deep Talkin Bass flats. Chromes are also a good choice

All that I've done so far is to fit a bone nut, replace the capacitator with a big old fashioned oil capacitator of the same value and I replaced the plastic knobs with gold colored metal knobs. Somewhere down the road I will probably go for the Ultralite Tuners. I don't have any problem with the 3 point bridge.View attachment 3149705

If you don't mind explaining, how did you change the knobs in this bass, like what was the process, every knob difference. Thought I'd ask someone who has changed them.

@Back2Bassic I've got TI Jazz flats on mine, 43-106.
They suit me fine as I'm after a decent thumpy sound...but they're not for a real bright tone.

If they don't pull off put a shoelace under them and pull with it

Other than going from the original strings to Chromes, I haven't found the need to do anything to the bass yet. I recently pulled it out of the closet and started using it again. It has a great sound.

Am i the only one having issues with the pickups vibrating and rattling? Just took this on a trade and not sure if i'll keep it if it keeps rattling.

I've not had that issue but a piece of foam under the pup should stop that

Pull out pickup and, put the spring or foam under it.

This is an interesting thread. I just got mine. I plan to have the electronics redone, but I am not swapping the pickups at this time. I am wanting to add a pickguard. Mine is the blue color, and I think a white pickguard would set it off. Does anyone make one for this bass?
