I replaced the Electar humbucker with a Gibson Low Impedance Bass pickup, taken from a Gibson Triumph.

These are stacked humbuckers with three coil taps.

The rotary switch is connected to each of the coil taps, so I can choose first, second or third coil tap.

In my opinion the sound of the Electar was a bit tame/bland. The Gibson Lo-z humbucker is more authoritative / commanding. Better dynamic response.

This pic of a Les Paul Signature prototype -that I found on flyguitars- inspired me.

I like the sound of my Jackbass, but not the body; it's too big and uncomfortable to me to play for a long time.

I'm planning on taking the electronics out of it one day, and putting them into a solid body.

I'd love to hear what your bass sounds like; it looks great.

There are limits to the Casady's tone switch. I've been using a basic compressor to get a more solid sound, but that only goes so far.

I'm interested in getting a pedal or two that will give me greater options. Any experiences/suggestions?

I would suggest a Fuzzrocious BDPG, Nathan East NE-1 or one of the best bangs for your buck the Zoom MS-60B which gives you a whole host of sounds.

I have an EBO bass and I love it. It is very old school sounding and can only be played with the flesh of one's fingers and thumb for a low throb. No picking or slapping for this baby . It is short scale which I like as well . It is the missing link between the modern electric bass and the stand-up bass .

The easiest way way to post a photo is by using a link from a photo on a 3rd party photo site, like photobucket. That is the what I do, the upload attachment file function here on TB has never worked for me.

Well, I guess after lurking for over a year, it's time to get over being shy...
I picked up my Zenith fretless last January after buying a guitar (Epiphone Alleykat) and deciding it really wasn't "me". I've always loved music.. even sang in a garage band waaay back in highschool... but never actually knew how to PLAY music. Decided I wasn't getting any younger and didn't want to die regretting that.

I was looking for something to cop that upright vibe without the size and expense since I'm a little less metal and a lot more rockabilly these days. Some prog rock at times... I think this baby does that well enough for me.

Could I get a number please?

Buying a used black EB-3 tomorrow so hopefully by that time tomorrow i'll be part of the club. At least if all is in order but the ad says it's in perfect shape and the pics seemed to corroborate (we'll see about electronics). I always heard a lot of bad things about the EB-0 but i'm hoping a bridge pickup will make all the difference. I'll give it a month before I decide if I keep it or resell it anyway. Lookwise I always loved it.

I made a NBD thread too. If I can kill the neck dive I might be keeping it. Tone wise its not quite there but I think changing the strings might help. Not sure what gauge this is but its not my standard. Neither my brand. Actually the issue is that the G string sounds very nasal... I don't know if its the strings or the bass but I can get a good tone of all the other strings but not the G. And I use the G a lot....

It is a 2008 but it is in perfect shape. Belonged to a guitar player that barely touched it. Paid 240$ Canadian and got a Fender gig bag with it too.
