Epiphone Club

This is the used lp special for 180 no case bag or warranty. Plus it's been repaired at the neck somewhere.

Have you seen/played the bass in person? If not, can you get a pic of the repaired area? If its a good player and the repair is minor or well done, then it is probably a fair deal. Since you are paying cash, try to get the price reduced or a bag thrown in with it. Never hurts to ask.

I think I'm going to buy new, the shop has a 45 day love it or return it policy for the new epis I'm looking at and it's free 2 day shipping so seems like a good deal for new gear. I've already purchased a couple of items from them in the past and I'm happy so far. Anyone familiar with the new embassy pro or any of the epis with probuckers? I don't really care for active pups, not sure if they are active but never been a fan of active electronics.

I haven't had a chance to try the new Embassy, but the Vintage Pro Bird is fantastic IMO. Pretty sure they share the same pickups. I have zero regrets on buying one when they were first released.

Man that's a damn good looking bass! I used to play a seafoam green reverse body Thunderbird, I hotrodded it & it sounded amazing but it had jumbo frets and I think playing it is what caused the arthritis in my hands specifically the right. My fingers are all funny looking from plucking.

Are they active electronics? I haven't been able to find out for sure.

All passive.

You mean like this?

Awesome!! Thanks so much for your help brother
Yeah the middle one! I bought it off a kid in a parking lot, he had no idea what it even was. Paid like 100 bucks for it and it still had all the protective plastic covering on the pick guard and he had it laying in the trunk of his car with tools and trash all around it. Actually I didn't even pay all of it in cash I traded some other green currency for it back in 95 or so. He thought it was a Guitar that someone had made a mistake during the building process. I don't think he knew bass guitars existed. I still have the stock pickups in by travel case.

Yeah I was thinking to myself is this guy for real? He was probably about 18 years old and said he had two guitars for sale so I said let me check it out my buddy has been looking for a guitar so we went to his trunk and there was a black tele electric guitar and the seafoam green Epi. He couldn't even pronounce the Epiphone but he knew what a telecaster was, I immediately grabbed the tbird and said I want it what'll you take for it & he's like I have no idea what it's worth so I says I'll give you a hundred bucks right now & I was about to say another hundred next payday buy before I could get the words out he said sold so I grabbed my wallet and didn't have the 100 bucks and he knew from another guy what I was doing to get by so he said he'd take whatever cash I had on hand plus the other. I was supposed to give him another payment 2 weeks later but he disappeared & I never saw him again. I played that bass live every weekend for at least 10 years. I still had it when I went on hiatus in 09 but got rid of it during hard times, I miss playing it but I'm happy to have enjoyed it for all those years & I'm sure it's still around somewhere. Every time I took it in for a setup I'd come back with at least 2 or 3 people wanting to buy it off me.

I love how dark the fretboard is. Epi seems to have moved to pau ferro for the VP fretboards. The earlier productions used blackwood tek. The black basses got the darker boards it seems.

I am glad this had the Blackwood Tek board on it as it is darker and looks more "right" with the black finish.

I have a chance to get the same bass for 180 used no case, should I get it? I'm looking to buy a new bass next week and I would like to buy something new instead of used. I have 4 Epi choices and the o-bass I'm considering. The epis come with limited lifetime warranty but no case or bag, the o-bass by Orange is one year warranty but comes with gig bag. All new choices are financed so I can get one home for around 40 bucks 0 interest. The used lp is a great deal! I can get it home for 180 cash but no case or bag. Any suggestions on what to do? Are warranties worth it?
If you love the LP, get it. Have you played them? Then get the one you like the feel of best.

Tomorrow is NBD (OK, it's used- NUBD?)! A used Thunderbird VP I bought from a fellow Thunderbird Club member should be showing up. The plan is to keep that one strung EADG and convert my old Epi TB IV to BEAD. Meanwhile, I'm working on selling my beautiful Epi TB Pro-V (my left hand hates wide necks, it turns out).

I have a question for you Epiphone lovers. I have an EB3 4 string with the 3 point bridge and I really don't like that style of bridge. What are my options for changing it? Ideally I would like to have a flush mount fully adjustable bridge like the Thunderbird and Embassy basses. My EB3 plays exceptionally well and other than the bridge I absolutely love it, it sounds great, plays great and looks great. I have hotrodded basses in the past but never changed a bridge. A fellow I play with is an accomplished luthier so I can get the work done for cheap I just need some options on what to choose from. It's all chrome so I'm going to keep it that way. I'd like to find something that would require the least amount of modifications to the body of the bass for fear of any tonal changes but I'm open to suggestions no matter what it takes to change the bridge.

I replaced my Thunderbird’s bridge with a Hipshot Supertone. It’s a drop-in replacement and I love it.
