You clearly never played one of the original 60's Embassys. Absolutely the worst neck dive I've ever seen in an otherwise wonderful bass. MUCH worse than, say, Thunderbirds. The body blanks were for solid body Wilshire guitars, and the necks were massive pieces of mahogany. Killer tone, but...

Fascinated to see the reboot with better balance but the same pickups and scale.

Actually my comment was directed to the fact that Gibson has historically paid no attention whatsoever to the needs of bass players or ergonomic considerations in the design of their basses. They pretty much all fail ergonomically across the line :D

Oh, I get you there. I was just postulating that the Embassy balance was so incredibly bad as to actually make them feel compelled to do something. Mine had a strap button added at the tip of the upper horn, but the original-orginal designs had the button on the back, SG style!

For sure I didn't like the SG shaped basses, but that wasn't all ergonomics, I haven't tried a ripper/grabber.

My 2018 EB is the top of the heap in my 2 fretted bass collection.

This new embassy looks to have similar ergonomics to it, if so, my fretted bass collection may still stand at 2.

I'm expecting good things from it.

Not to rain on the parade, but the Embassy I received would not intonate properly. The G-A strings were able to get there just fine, but the inexpensive tuners were terrible on the bass I received. The tuners had gaps where they would lose tension where the gears would not catch properly. For my preference, they would need to be replaced were I to keep the bass.

Agree about the tuners being poor. The other 2 basses with poor tuners here are an SX P clone(very tight but they do hold) and a Gibson SG bass(tuner ratio wrong for the short scale, you barely turn the tuner and it overshoots where you wanted to go).

I liked a lot about the EB i had. Especially that hi tech bridge,which was a brilliant move on Gibson’s part.
I actually thought that Gibson was trying to capture the stylin mojo of the old Embassy with that pickguard. But,It got traded,and i later bought one of the first of the Embassy reissues. (Also recently sold).
Knowing what i know now, I’d love to have one of the 4 strings EBs reloaded with Embassy humbuckers.

Mine has a babicz bridge, and no pickguard. I don’t recall how many years they made this “EB” but it looks like there were some significant changes between the years. maybe 3 years, maybe?

Bad news on the embassy front...

I can’t find the green one in stock and a couple phone calls predict at least a month maybe 2 for re-stock. The place I can get the biggest discount has the longest predicted wait....

The place I can get a slight discount has the almond in stock. I do like the color but not as much as the green.

I like SG shaped basses,once again no accounting for taste.I had Grabber and I thought it looked so cool and selling it remains one of my biggest regrets.The Embassy is gaining more favor everyday.The sound from those pups is great imo.A keeper for sure.

I traded in my Sire M2 to GC for the red Embassy, and zero regrets! The tone variety from blending the 2 pickups is really awesome. The neck had a slight back bow when it arrived. I loosened the truss a 1/4 turn and added Dunlop Superbright SS(Non Marcus Miller-lower tension). There is Definitely a difference in sound with the new strings. Intonation and string height was almost spot on after the neck adjustment and new strings. The tuners are bearable, but I will likely get a set of hipshots down the road.
Best deal for an awesome soumding bass since my I got my EB 5 bass. The neck size and fret placements perfect for my hands.
Long story Short, I highly recommend this bass!

Before I decided to get a 5 string, the embassy pro in Wanderlust Green was at the top of my list and I was very close to getting it. I love the color and I love the sound. I still might end up with one at some point.
