Yeah, it's SS. I've been playing a Squier VI a lot lately, so I'm used to a shorter neck. The guy selling was pretty cool, which put me at ease a bit b/c I was skittish about buying via out-of-town CL. Sometimes it just works out, though.

He listed it as an Epi Wilshire/Crestwood but I think it's actually an ET-288N, MIJ from '75-'79, though I don't know which year this one's from. The through-neck is pretty nice, I'll throw up a backside shot later.

I've never used straplocks - never had a problem with them slipping off unless I was using an uber-cheap 3 dollar strap.

The ATK has massive strap buttons and I put a decent quality 3" strap on it - the leather was so stiff that I had a hell of a time getting it on there. It's not coming off on its own.

is this a copy of the old embassy bass they did in the 60s with the T-bird hardware/pickups?

Pups are super hot. Neck is super beefy. Fun to play! I have a gig tomorrow night but probably won't have this one ready in time. Needs strap locks first. I'll probably give it a workout at my gig at the end of March, though.

Fender sells strap buttons that are compatible with Schaller locks, I have just thrown those on any bass I've owned in the last 10 years. Problem is I've lost a bunch of the locks over the years as well, so I have maybe 2 straps that still have functioning locks anymore

I don't think so but I'm not certain. Before pulling the trigger, I searched for a while for info on the ET-288Ns and didn't find much. Here's what I found from epiphonewiki, though it's really in reference to the ET-285, which had a bolt-on neck.

The Epiphone ET Series guitars were solidbody guitars produced during the 1970s at the Matsumoku plant in Japan.
In 1970, the decision was made to close down Kalamazoo production of Epiphones in favor of building them overseas in Japan. Epiphone decided to offer a new line of Japanese-built Epiphones that had more in common with other Japanese copies than previous Epiphone products. Japanese-built Epiphones generally sport a blue label that reads Epiphone, Inc. Kalamazoo, Michigan but rarely sport a Made in Japan sticker.
Often confused with the Newport and Embassy Deluxe basses, the ET-285 was a Japanese-made bolt-neck bass and had little in common with older Epiphone body shapes and designs.

Done that on a couple axes to prevent future botching, but I need to check the others.

I've been contemplating getting a small game license this year. Not interested in deer hunting, but my wife and I do a lot of camping on my family's property. 40 acres of hilly woods with a stream. I always bring the .22 with because there's coyotes, wild dogs and beer cans around. :ninja:

I figure it would be damn satisfying to get a rabbit and roast it over the camp fire.

Part of the perk of my constant flipping is I collect a lot of strappy bits, so I usually put standard strap bits back to guitars and collect the strap locks for my gear or better sells.

I will say if you don't want to get strap locks. A pack of washers at Home Depot costs less than a mcdouble and secures like 3-5 straps.

Personally I need strap locks I've been fat, now skinny, I've used cheap $3 straps, big leather straps, had them low and high and they always fall off.
