Episode 88: S/D thread - No Hope

I think a custom guard is the way to go. You could find something and make it yourself. Do a trial with poster board or something

Another vote for custom pickguard.

Adding wood could be good, might add a little more resonance and depth, or it could just be a pain to do and not accomplish anything.

Pickguard would fix the visual problem and not effect the tone/playability of the bass.
I've thought about a new pickguard, but I kinda like the jank. Also I now have this sticker, so I may as well use it.

Tone wise? Walnut or Hog

Not for tone, I mean purely for weight. The bass is too light.

Filling it with wood would add weight.

Them covering it was a sticker would cover any sign of the replacement wood.

Putting a sticker over a hole, you run risk of popping a hole in the sticker at some point.

That was my thought, too. That there would need to be something under the sticker to keep my finger from punching through, which would be bad, as I like the sticker in question.

Fill it with the most DOOM wood ever, a solid chunk of metal. It probably won't do anything to the tone, but it'll make the bass heavier than wood would. Heavier bass = heavier riffin.

Had first band practice of Galactic Hatchet, went well got the first riff/song started and I even tried singing while playing for one of the first times ever with some success. Its super simple, slow, fuzzy, riffin.

Then went and saw Whores. TONES MAN, DEM TONES AND RIFFS. I missed lo Pan, but heard they were great. So much riffin tonight.

I like that thinking. I'd considered a heavy chunk of metal, but I'm not sure how I'd attach it to the wood.

Good morning and happy Friday. My LM308N finally arrived from China yesterday. Like most packages direct from China it stinks to high hell of chemicals. So I just need to grab the Rat from the practice space tonight and I'll do the chip swap. Meanwhile I've been collecting parts for the Bad Stone, last piece of the puzzle is the footswitch, which should be arriving tomorrow. So it looks like I've got a full day of pedal modification and repair tomorrow. I'm unreasonably excited for that.
