Episode 88: S/D thread - No Hope

Ok redo try of posting some pics of the 51/Tele P progress. The tru oil seems to have set, will polish with a little rubbing compound and apply a couple coats of tru oil wax then button and solder it all up. Pretty happy with the body color, the tru oil made it look super dark for a few weeks there and I still liked that look but now it cured I like it even better.
any reason why a korg pitchblack would hum loudly when engaged/tuning? my guitarist has one and it is the most annoying thing.
I use the classic TU-2 but im in E standard these days and it suits me just fine.

im trying to locate a square heel neck, will probably get an Allparts off ebay unless anyone has had a bad experience with the guy selling them for like $180, unfinished, with a nut and supposed fret leveled
might sound silly but I need it for a T-40 body I have. ive heard a tele bass neck is close enough to work.
anyone have a T-40 bridge or other hardware they would like to sell??
my Pitchblack does not hum, but i've found that it is no longer dead silent anymore. when i engage the tuner i can still hear the bass very faintly in the speakers when i pluck the stings to tune.
Mine flat out died at the recording session last week. I was so pissed. I've had the same TU-2!for like 10+ years
I know I'm late but, I rum my terror at 7-3.5-7. Doesn't sound super scooped... Maybe it's the combo of the tbird and dem 10s?
No reason other than it's broken/defective. Bummer.
My Snark pedal tuner is still holding up and it's cheap. Highly recommended!
If nothing else its a good example of how many different elements make up your sound, and how someone's amp EQ curve doesn't necessarily mean much. I run my BBE pre at around 3-9-3, which is still mildly scooped on the tone stack, but after my super-midrangy Carvin and my MarkBass cabs weigh in you'd think I was mid-boosted. If I swap to my backup bass you'd think I was decently scooped.
Back on my string topic. So I cleaned and set up a buddy's yamaha 5 Thursday. When I was taking the slack out the D strings broke at the nut. I had a feeling since it kept dropping tune a lot more then the other strings. It was a set of EB cobalt's at $40 a set. I ended up being a good dude and took a just changed (fresh) string off my jazz I set up Sunday. Put the dunlop in his bass and right to tune and held. After playing it i thought the Dunlop was louder and had more presence. I ended up getting a daddario to replace the dunlop on my jazz and thought it was slightly duller then the Dunlop's. This is all going thru the b15. So i think for sure going to order some Dunlop for both my metal basses for drop B. These in particular Link Removed
I've been using Dunlops of one form or another for the last year or so - just because they're the cheapest strings available here at work. They do seem to stabilize more quickly than other strings, though I was never super impressed with their tone.
I wanted to try something different last time I got strings so I bought some Ernie Ball Power Slinkys - while they took a little longer to settle in I've found that I really like sound of them compared to the cheap Dunlops that I had been buying. They're pretty dark for roundwound strings - even brand new they were not overly bright/zingy.
my DR405 is sitting 5 miles away from house right now but is not expected to be delivered until monday night. the el salvadorian lady on the phone who i called in pakistan says im not getting my amp today.
